First look into the first week of teams getting back onto the court after a weird year in COVID, and they are coming full force making a name for themselves.
Mia Doorn– OH/Illiana Christian
Doorn is not a name that is new on the court and Doorn has made sure that she comes out on fire. Doorn has been seen in 34 sets and is currently leading the pack in Illinois with 122 kills for the season. That is impressive considering the first week reports and she never fails to come out on the court and make kill for kill. Doorn continues to show herself on the court and continues to rise to being an elite athlete.
Alexa Miedema– OH/Illiana Christian
Miedema is a new face to the court, as she is one of the few freshman starting on varsity. Miedema has been a starter in the 34 sets that she has been seen in and falls in second in kills, with 62 kills. Miedema is going to be an athlete to trail this season considering her skill set and the continuous development that she brings to the table. It is without a doubt that Miedema is going to be a rising elite athlete over the four years at Illiana Christian.

Martin is another rising player from Illiana that continues to put her best foot forward when she steps out on the court. Martin currently comes in third in Illinois with 59 kills on the board. Martin is another athlete who continues to rise and continues to outshine theirselves on the court, proving their ability to be a rising elite athlete. Martin has been seen in 35 sets this season and is a solid athlete when it comes to foundation and fundamentals. I am curious to see what Martin has in the tank to keep moving forward this season.
Delanie Voss

– MH/Illiana Christian
Voss currently sits in the 4th spot with 41 kills this season and has been seen in 34 sets. Voss is a rising elite athlete and has started her season off strong with her putting her learned foundation and fundamentals to test and putting her hard work into her craft. Voss is a strong athlete and is not afraid to go for the ball, regardless if the kill is successful or not. Voss has currently has 122 attack attempts and 12 attack errors. Voss is a very diverse athlete on the court with the ability to be a middle hitter, but having the range and strength as her outside hitters.
Elise Hennigan– OH/Fenwick High School
Hennigan is getting her feet wet and making a name for herself out on the court. Hennigan has been seen in 9 sets and currently sits in 5th overall in Illinois with 34 kills. Hennigan has a 43.6 kill percentage, which is a good start for so early in the season. Hennigan has been one of the many athletes whose seasons have been changed and challenged due to COVID and she is coming out of the door bringing her best foot forward.
