Edmond Deer Creek @ Edmond Santa Fe 9/21
These teams have met each other just one time prior to this game. It was the championship game of possibly the toughest tournament of the year, Heather Harkness Tournament. Santa Fe beat Deer Creek in the 5th set 17-15 to win the title. It doesn’t get much closer as a match. Look for fireworks all night long!
Players to watch: 2022 S Cameron Turner Cameron Turner 6'0" | S Deer Creek | 2022 State OK has continued to be a leader for Deer Creek. 2023 OH Jenna Houk Jenna Houk 5'9" | OH Deer Creek | 2023 State OK was brilliant at Heather Harkness. She took big swings at big times and caused plenty of headaches for opposing teams. Madison Edwards Madison Edwards 6'0" | MB Edmond Santa Fe | 2022 State OK looked solid all tournament long. She has great control of her shots, giving middle back defenders have trouble reading her swings.
Cascia Hall @ Victory Christian 09/23
Casica Hall is ranked #1 in 3A and Victory Christian is ranked #3 in 4A. They have not met yet this season. Cascia is looking to maintain that top spot at 3A and be the top seed through the playoffs. Victory Christian is competing in an extremely ctough 4A class and trying to stay as high in the rankings as possible. Both teams have a lot riding on this game, which should make for an exciting match!
Players to watch: 2022 OH duo Hannah Warlick Hannah Warlick 5'8" | OH Victory Christian | 2022 State OK and Bella Wakley Bella Wakley 6'0" | OH Victory Christian | 2022 State OK have been the go-to players for Victory. They both can bring a ton of power behind their swings and produce some absolute rockets. 2023 Landry Hill for Cascia has helped lead them to the 25-2 start on the season.
Edmond Memorial @ Norman North 09/23
These teams met in the gold semi-finals of the Broken Arrow tournament. Edmond Memorial won a very contested 5 set match. Norman North has one of the best home courts in the state, their student section comes out and supports them well. A year removed from fans, playing with student sections has been a learning curve for everyone. Edmond Memorial is coming off a runner-up finish at the Owasso Tournament and NN is coming off a week where they went 2-0. Both will want this win on their resume as they come down the stretch.
Players to watch:
2024 Parker Gladhill Parker Gladhill 5'11" | MB Norman North | 2024 State OK really impressed me when I saw her at the Broken Arrow tournament. She had some really solid swings and blocks to help her team in big moments. 2023 S Riley Roberts Riley Roberts 5'10" | S Norman North | 2023 State OK has continued to be a key player for the Timberwolves. Sapulpa @ Claremore 09/20
5A #5 and #6 will be a pivotal game for both teams. They have met once before and Claremore got the best of the Chieftans. Sapulpa will be looking to get revenge and Claremore will look to defender their home court. Claremore does a great job of out lasting opponents with defense and creating pressure from the service line. Sapulpa puts up a big block in almost every rotation and has won the serve receive battle in most matches this year. Look for the attacks of Claremore and blocks of Sapulpa to be the skill matchup that may determine the outcome of this game.
Players to watch:
2022 OH Ryann Hoey Ryann Hoey 5'10" | OH Sapulpa | 2022 State OK has been the main firepower for Sapulpa. 2024 Tyla Heard Tyla Heard 6'0" | RS Sapulpa | 2024 State OK has been a solid RH for them both offensively and defensively. 2022 DS Jessica Thompson and Becca Hilmes have been great defenders for each team.
