Continue ReadingThe offers for our wonderful Texas players keep coming. We love to see the pictures and news of these players as they are achieving their dreams. We are proud to announce some news from the recruiting front. There are three more players who have just committed to college volleyball programs recently and we would like to share the news. These young ladies have been hard at work during the high school volleyball season and have been also hard at work on the recruiting scene getting offers from schools and have made their decisions. Help us in congratulating them on the amazing news.
Sophie Ocampo [2022] 6-3 Right Side/Middle (HS: Kingwood/Club: Houston Stellar/Verbal: UT Arlington)
Sophie is currently an unranked prospect in the 2022 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings but that could change in the next update. She plays for Kingwood High School and Houston Stellar Volleyball club out of the southeast side of H-town. We are proud to announce that she recently committed to the University of Texas at Arlington. She will give them some serious size as she towers over most of her high school teammates standing at six foot three. She has been a solid contributor for Kingwood during her four-year varsity career. Each year she has outdone the previous year when it comes to the stat book. So far in four years she has tallied 816 kills on a .243 hitting percentage and has also added 121 blocks, 85 aces and 424 digs. This young lady can seriously do it all on the court and it’s a no-brainer why UT Arlington offered her. We are excited to see how she finishes her senior season and we are happy that she gets to realize her dream of playing college volleyball. Please help us congratulate her on the achievement.
Briana Zamora [2022] 5-4 Libero (HS: Clear Creek/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Louisiana State University)
Briana is currently an unranked 2022 prospect in the State Rankings but that will change once we update the rankings again. Miss Zamora recently committed to play volleyball for LSU in the SEC. Bri has been phenomenal for Clear Creek since bursting onto the scene as a freshman. In four years on varsity she has accumulated 1873 digs, 1985 service receptions, 153 aces and even added 11 kills as a libero. Her ability to stay laser-focused on reading her hitter helps her put herself in the best position to play the ball at all times. Spectators are always in awe of how she pushes off and extends her range to touch balls well outside of her wingspan. What makes her stellar and stand out is how well she uses her hands to dig attacked balls. She is a true libero and will help the Tigers when she arrives on campus. She will definitely help solidify their serve receive and defense next year. Please help us congratulate her on achieving her dreams of playing volleyball at the next level.
Olivia Adair Olivia Adair 5'6" | DS/L Johnson City | 2022 State TX [2022] 5-6 Libero (HS: Johnson City/Club: Roots/Verbal: Texas State)
Olivia is currently ranked as the 105th best prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. We have profiled her a few times and here is a little refresher from the articles, “Olivia is blessed with extremely fast footwork on the court. She excels on the defensive end and doesn’t let much fall in or near her zone. Being only five foot six, you wouldn’t think she has the range she does, but when you watch her sprawl out for a ball, you will see that it is like she grows right before your eyes. This defensive range allows her to touch a lot more balls than the average libero. You can tell by the way she plays that she loves to play defense. As a coach we always try to teach our young players to keep their posture low and shoulders forward throughout the entire game. Olivia does this extremely well on the court. She has great vision on the court also as she is constantly keeping her eyes on the players to read before they contact the ball. She has such great attributes as a young libero and she is only going to get better as the years progress. She is no stranger to accolades or being on a winning program. In 2019 she won the USA National Division gold medal with her Roots Volleyball team. In 2020, she was named the district MVP of 29-2A. This past season they went 20-9 overall and a perfect 10-0 in district. She was a key factor in their deep UIL 2A State Playoff run. Her Roots club volleyball squad has been on a tear so far being a pre-qualified team for the Tour of Texas series. We will be watching closely how they compete against the best the state has to offer. Coaches should absolutely keep an eye out for Miss Adair.” It didn’t take long for coaches to notice her after another stellar club season. We are proud to announce that she recently chose to commit to Texas State University to play volleyball. I’m sure they saw what we saw when it comes to her serve receive skills…ice in her veins and solid in every aspect. Her serve receive skills are so elite that she could easily split the court and take up half of it in a serve receive rotation and cover the entire ground. Please help us congratulate her on achieving her dream of playing college volleyball and staying close to home while doing it. We are excited to cover her senior season.
