That’s even more the case in the great state of Texas, one with a tremendously high number of teams and divisions and the ability to develop talent in a lot of different regions. High the first seven weeks of high school volleyball in the books, we’ll take the week to highlight the freshmen that had great starts to their high school careers.
These are some of the standout prospects in the class of 2025 when it comes to blocking:
Gracyn Hentschel – Middle Blocker – HS: Cedar Creek
Gracyn Hentschel has been able to add an interesting blocking presence to Cedar Creek in her first season of high school volleyball. The freshman has been doing a great job while patrolling the net, tallying 112 blocks in her first 57 sets as an Eagle, to an average of two per set. Hentschel was especially productive in a loss to Lehman in which she left the court with 20 blocks to her name.
Sydney Bryant – Middle Blocker – HS: George Ranch – Club: Houston Juniors
One of the strongest teams in the Houston area, George Ranch has been fortunate to add one of the most promising middle blockers in the state in Sydney Bryant. A 6’3” prospect, Bryant is long, athletic and mobile enough to dominate the net, something she has been doing with the Longhorns as she produced 65 blocks in 55 sets, to an average of 1.2 per set. Her highest mark so far were seven in a five-set match against Dickinson.
