There were a handful of tournaments taking place across the state this weekend. We journey the state to see who returned home with the top prizes.

Wamego Tournament

Nemaha Central. had what we would call a dominant performance taking home the championship and not dropping a set. They would go 6-0. The Thunder are now 22-3 on the season. Junior [player_tooltip player_id="122209" first="Addy" last="Holthaus"] had 9 kills versus Hays and has 162 on the year. Both Holthaus and fellow junior [player_tooltip player_id="105496" first="Ella" last="Larkin"] have put up strong numbers in the dig category. The tandem of Mckynsey Henry and Lillian Schultejans have both tallied over 200 assists on the season.

West Franklin Tournament

In West Franklin, Paola would take home the title with victories over the host school West Franklin, Maranatha Christian Academy, and Anderson County along the way. The Panthers now sit at 14-5 after a strong weekend. They have not updated their stats on the year.

Olpe Tournament

19-3 Wabaunsee took care of business at Olpe claiming the tournament title in impressive fashion. They clipped Olpe, Goeseel, Bishop Seabury, Northern Heights, and Madison along the way. Their stats haven’t been updated in some time but [player_tooltip player_id="105632" first="Lauren" last="Schutter"] has been leading the charge for the Chargers in the kills category. Dishing the ball and having a successful senior campaign has been Kara Hafenstine.

Herrington Tournament

Sedgwick was crowned the top team in Herrington over the weekend. The 22-3 Cardinals didn’t drop a set on their way to the title. No stats for the tournament but the team looks to extend their 16 win streak going this week facing off against Ell-Saline

Newton Invitational

Andale hasn’t lost in the month of September and got revenge against the team who gave them their only one of the year. Salina South, Newton, Buhler, Andover Central, and McPherson all ran into the freight train named Andale. At 20-1, they look to keep that momentum going this week with a showdown against Rose Hill on Tuesday. Stats haven’t been updated but [player_tooltip player_id="120012" first="McKenzie" last="Fairchild"] and Maddie Schrandt have been strong offensively. Annabeth Baalmann and Camryn Winter have done a good job of spreading the ball around sharing the setting duties.

Hoisington Tournament

Smith Center Lady Red kept their perfect season alive taking out the field in the Hoisington Tournament. They had to win a couple of three-setters along the way but were successful in the process. One of those three-setters was against Phillipsburg, who they will see again this week. Like many teams, the stats haven’t been updated but senior Tallon Rentschler is the team kills leader and probably added to those numbers over the weekend.
