Sectionals start Thursday, October 27th and it is going to be awesome. Teams are sure to have been working hard this week after their regional championships last weekend. The teams in this sectional are outstanding and their matchups on the road to state result in some truly incredible volleyball. Here are your D1 Regional Champions from Sectionals 5 and 6.

All rankings are based on the team’s seed in their respective sectional.

Germantown (#1 Seed)

Germantown is on a roll this season, winning the Greater Metro Conference and going 29-6 so far. [player_tooltip player_id="61819" first="Lily" last="Wagner"] (Committed to Liberty) is their top hitter and is incredibly explosive at the net. She can execute from anywhere on the court and is great in and out of system. [player_tooltip player_id="81276" first="Madelyn" last="Weyda"] is another highly efficient pin hitter for the Warhawks. You can’t talk about the success of this team without talking about senior setter [player_tooltip player_id="81278" first="Maddie" last="Connor"]. She runs this offense like a well-oiled machine and is impactful in every single rotation and on every play. Junior libero/DS Sadie Olson averages 3.8 digs per set and is consistent in serve receive as well.

Brookfield Central (#4 Seed)

Central will match up with Germantown in the sectional semi-final. [player_tooltip player_id="22407" first="Mckenna" last="Wucherer"] (Committed to Minnesota) and [player_tooltip player_id="81253" first="Morgan" last="Daugherty"] (Committed to Marquette) are both incredibly explosive on offense. Emily Lavin (2023) is a very reliable pin hitter and has nearly 250 kills this season. She plays tough defense and is consistent for her team. [player_tooltip player_id="81283" first="Tatum" last="Kebisek"] (2022) is an efficient and smart setter. She has 936 assists this season and 3,715 career assists and utilizes her offensive weapons well. Libero [player_tooltip player_id="149585" first="Riley" last="Angst"] plays scrappy defense and keeps the ball alive for this explosive and talented offensive team.

Hamilton (#3 Seed)

Hamilton is coming off of a huge 2020 season where they won the regular season State Championship. This year they have a 30-12 record and some great leaders stepping up. Junior pin hitter [player_tooltip player_id="82916" first="Sylvie" last="Zgonc"] has an explosive approach and is aggressive at the net. She leads the team in kills and service receptions and has the second most digs. Fellow pin hitters [player_tooltip player_id="82949" first="Mya" last="Trafficante"] (2023) and Eva Finnessy (2025) are also highly impactful players who get a lot of touches on offense and defense for this team. [player_tooltip player_id="57287" first="Tatum" last="Baldwin"] brings years of experience on the court and has been a great leader for this team. So has libero [player_tooltip player_id="81334" first="Trisha" last="Shankar"] who is dynamic and fast on defense.

DSHA (#2 Seed)

DSHA is an incredibly dynamic team. They run tempo balls extremely well and are explosive at the net. Freshman 6 rotation outside hitter Madison Quest has been the talk of this team. She leads the team in kills and is outstanding in defense, serving, and serve receive as well. [player_tooltip player_id="81284" first="Julia" last="Wojciak"] (2022), [player_tooltip player_id="122569" first="Sophia" last="Wendlick"] (2024), and [player_tooltip player_id="81291" first="Kara" last="Schmit"] are all very impactful on offense as well. Julia has also brought in over 100 blocks this season. Setter [player_tooltip player_id="81330" first="Paige" last="Yelmene"] (2022) has fast hands and is very talented at reading opposing blocks. She moves the ball around efficiently and sets her hitters up for success. This team is scrappy on defense and has a lot of highly impactful players who contribute to their success.

Burlington (#1 Seed)

The Demons have only lost 4 matches this season and all to very talented opponents. [player_tooltip player_id="122555" first="Ella" last="Safar"] is a major player on this team with over 700 assists and 71 aces. She is fast, tricky to read, and very consistent. Junior libero [player_tooltip player_id="91895" first="Molly" last="Berezowitz"] is insanely scrappy on the court. She covers a lot of space in the back row and is an energizer and leader on this team. This offense has a number of impactful athletes including [player_tooltip player_id="81301" first="Lydia" last="Biggin"] (2022), Kenna Kornely (2023), and [player_tooltip player_id="119434" first="Abby" last="Alan"]. Abby also leads the team in blocking and has some great momentum-changing plays for the Demons.

Westosha Central (#5 Seed)

Westosha upset the #4 seed Janesville Craig in four sets last week to earn their Regional Champion title. They have had a very successful season led by senior captain and pin hitter [player_tooltip player_id="144551" first="Lauren" last="Foerster"] (Committed to Findlay) who has contributed 331 kills, 77 aces, 167 digs, and 463 service receptions. Junior pin hitter Karis Bridleman is also very dynamic and is one of the go-to hitters on this team. Karis also has a hugely positive impact on defense and serve receive. Junior setter [player_tooltip player_id="119417" first="Sydney" last="Selburg"] has been making her presence known on the court. She has racked up 679 assists, 147 digs, 102 aces, and 112 kills. Sydney is a smart and athletic setter who can be very gritty and scrappy.

Waterford (#3 Seed)

Waterford has a great record at 19-9 on the season. [player_tooltip player_id="144666" first="Chloe" last="Werner"] (Committed to Akron) and [player_tooltip player_id="119427" first="Isabel" last="Floryance"] (2023) earn most of the kills for this team aided by junior setter [player_tooltip player_id="81272" first="Josie" last="Johnson"]. This team has great chemistry on the court helping them earn wins this season. They are also extremely competitive defensively with 6 athletes earning well over 100 digs (with many closer to the 200 mark). Some defensive shoutouts include Lisa Busch (2023), Josie, Chloe, Isabel, Meghan Brever (2022), and Maya Weinkauf (2023). The Wolverines are great at frustrating opponents with their amazing defense that never seems to let up.

Fort Atkinson (#2 Seed)

Fort Atkinson’s record is very similar to that of Waterford’s at 19-8. They swept their way past Janesville Parker with scores of 25-11, 25-11, 25-15 in the regional championship match. Unfortunately, there are no stats listed online. One of their impactful players is sophomore setter [player_tooltip player_id="122560" first="Andi" last="Spies"] who has competitive and valuable experience on the court. Based on their record and opponents they should have a tight and competitive match against Waterford on Thursday!
