One of our missions at Prep Dig is to highlight as many teams and prospects as possible around the state, from State Championship contenders and household names to underdogs and special talents who might be flying under-the-radar.
We spend a lot of time at the gyms gathering information and watching matches and will use this space to highlight some of the teams and players we got to watch in person. Today let’s take a look at the Tompkins Lady Falcons.
Tompkins Lady Falcons
The Lady Falcons from the Tompkins High School are one of the top teams in the highly-competitive Katy area and their record shows just that. With the season entering its third month, the team coached by Allison Merrell has an outstanding 27-5 win record and is yet to lose in district play, having won all of their first seven matches in the Class 6A, Region III – District 19.

Players to Watch:
Paris Herrman Paris Herrman 5'11" | OH Thompkins | 2022 State TX – Outside Hitter – Club: Houston Juniors – 2022
A very complete player, Paris Herrman Paris Herrman 5'11" | OH Thompkins | 2022 State TX is heavily involved with everything the Lady Falcons do on a volleyball court. An excellent passer, she’s a key piece in the team’s offensive system and is also capable of scoring points in high volume due to her combination of a 5’11” frame, great technique and high volleyball IQ, which makes her impressively effective when out of system. Her consistency and few mistakes give the Lady Falcons an interesting level of stability. One of the team’s captains, she also does a great job in giving her teammates credit when they make a good play. Herrman currently leads the team in digs (378), passes (352) and aces (49), besides ranking second in kills (278).
Cindy Tchouangwa Cindy Tchouangwa 5'11" | OH Tompkins | 2023 State #45 Nation TX – Outside Hitter – Club: Houston Juniors – 2023
Cindy Tchouangwa Cindy Tchouangwa 5'11" | OH Tompkins | 2023 State #45 Nation TX is Tompkins’ most lethal offensive player. A six-footer, she has all the physical tools that make her really difficult to stop, including a tremendous leaping ability and a heavy arm. Tchouangwa can hit from any position at the net and is also really dangerous from the backcourt. When she hits sharp angle from the left, it’s nearly impossible to stop her due to the power and the angle she sends the ball to. She’s also a capable passer and defender and get to contribute to the Lady Falcons across the board, ranking first in kills (335) and second in blocks (48), digs (220) and passes (311).
Tendai Titley – Middle Blocker/Outside Hitter – Club: Houston Skyline – 2023
Originally an outside hitter, Tendai Titley was moved to the middle so she could fit in Tompkins’ lineup and the move proved to be a beneficial one for her and the team. The 5’11” showed she can a good fit in the position as her athleticism and her good reading of the game make of her an interesting piece at the net. On offense, she thrives through a high contact point and a heavy right arm. Her background as an outside hitter brings the added bonus of her being able to play all six rotations, not being replaced by a libero when in the backcourt. Titley is the team’s third-best hitter and blocker with 132 kills and 42 stuffs and ranks fourth in digs (196) and passes (190).
