Continue ReadingWe were in attendance two weeks ago for the Bishop McGuinness Volleyball Tournament where we watched some really great competition. We watched this team multiple times throughout the tourney and they did not disappoint at all. Some teams can have a good match but Santa Fe showed that they are a force to be reckoned with and we have their name in the State Title conversation with what we saw.
They have it all from great defense to strong serving. They have solid setting that distributes the ball evenly to some jaw dropping hitters all across the net. Lets start with the All Tournament selection Katelyn Branson Katelyn Branson 5'6" | OH Santa Fe | 2022 State OK . This young lady can fly! We have her on our watch list and she will definitely be added at our next update. She is only five foot six but packs a mean approach and some serious power in her attack. Her lower body powers her up off of the court so fast. It is pretty astounding to watch. When she hits the ball, watch out! It is so fun to watch her swing away.
Allison Pope stole the show as she is their workhorse who gets a majority of the swings. She is worth the price of admission on the left side pin. Her windmill arm swing is a little different than normal, but she scores at will with it pretty consistently. She was stellar on both the defensive end digging and blocking to go along with her supreme offensive arsenal. She is the real deal and deserves a solid look from a college program.
They were trading punches back and forth with Deer Creek high school all match long. Set one was very close and Deer Creek outlasted Santa Fe 28-26 in extras to win. In set two, Santa Fe flexed its muscles and were in total control the entire way and ended up winning pretty convincingly by a score of 25-18. In the all important deciding set, both teams stood toe to toe in the middle of the ring and traded some hay-makers. Santa Fe went on a roll at the end and pulled away with the championship.
What was impressive was their fight. Despite what Deer Creek hit them with, Santa Fe took it and charged right back. They have what it takes to hit some adversity and keep pushing to dish adversity right back to their opponent. They will definitely be in the running for the State Title with what I saw in the tourney.
Here is a little from our recent articles about the rest of their awesome lineup if you need to remember who they are:
Madison Edwards Madison Edwards 6'0" | MB Edmond Santa Fe | 2022 State OK [2022] 6-0 Middle (HS: Santa Fe/Club: Oklahoma Peak Performance/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Madison is currently ranked as our 22nd best overall prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays for Santa Fe High School and a one of the best club programs in the state in Oklahoma Peak Performance. Madison is a very talented middle that is a big weapon for both teams she plays for. She has one of the fastest arm swings in the age group and hits the ball with authority. The best aspect is her ability to run every single route on the middle route tree with speed and agility. She would be a great fit for any college program in the middle or a pin position. She stops on a dime during transition and drives hard toward her setter to hit the quick attack. She has college level power and athleticism and deserves a couple of looks from the next level. This young lady has the ability to move up the rankings with her continued high-level play. Please help us congratulate her on achieving such great accomplishments of being a top player in the state. We have been watching as she routinely punishes the overpasses that come her way. She has also been a kill machine for Santa Fe so far.
Abiana Miraku Abiana Miraku 5'6" | S Santa Fe | 2022 State OK [2022] 5-6 Setter (HS: Santa Fe/Club: Oklahoma Peak Performance/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Abiana is currently ranked as our 24th best overall prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is the floor general for Santa Fe High School and she also plays club for the awesome Oklahoma Peak Performance program. She is a small setter but extremely fast and tracks the ball down very well to keep her squad in-system. She is one of the 6-2 setters for OP2 that keeps the high-octane offense moving. I love how athletic she is and how she is able to jump set and still push the ball to her quick attack hitters. She has great soft hands with a very quick consistent release. She is not a liability in the back row as she plays great defense in the right back position. Please help us congratulate her on being one of the best volleyball players in the state. We are excited to have her in our Prep Dig Family and look forward to watching her senior season. So far she has been “Acing” all of the tests. She has a wicked serve that has been stifling opposing teams. Miss Miraku has quite a few great hitters to distribute the ball to and she has been doing a fantastic job so far.
Audrey Bird Audrey Bird 5'11" | MB State OK [2023] 5-11 Middle (HS: Santa Fe/Club: Oklahoma Peak Performance/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Audrey is currently ranked as our 21st best overall prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays for Edmond Santa Fe High School and also club for Oklahoma Peak Performance. She drives her feet extremely hard toward her setter during her approach. It is refreshing to see a young middle operate that way as it will help her stay potent offensively. Her long arms make her a threat on both ends of the game. She has a super strong upper body and we love how she uses it to score for her teams. Miss Bird has every chance to move up the rankings with her amazing offensive skill-set. Out of the middle she can hit toward both zones with power and that makes it very difficult for any opposing middle to stop her. We are excited to have her in our Prep Dig Family and look forward to watching her junior season. Please help us congratulate her on the honor she just earned.
Addison Banes Addison Banes 5'5" | DS/L Edmond Santa Fe | 2023 State OK [2023] 5-5 Libero (HS: Santa Fe/Club: Oklahoma Peak Performance/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Addison is currently ranked as the 27thbest overall prospect in the 2023 class but that will change once we update the rankings in a few months. She is a solid libero that plays for both Santa Fe high school and also club for the amazing OP2 program. This young lady shows great dexterity in the position. I like how active she is in left back while both in defense and covering her hitters. Her arms show a very soft touch on the ball whether hit directly at her or outside of her body. She will be looked at to keep her team in every rally during the tough conference matches and heading into the state playoff. We are expecting great things from her in the future.
