IHSA 2A State Series team highlight: Montini Catholic

<p>Illinois is finally underway with state playoffs, and this season we have seen a wide variety of athletes who have managed to show up and bring their best out on the court. I am going to dive into the 2A class and the teams that are showing up and bringing their best foot forward.</p> <p>The Montini Catholic Broncos have been unstoppable this season with their strength in numbers amongst the power they have on their team. The Broncos are currently 1st in their conference, coming off a 2-0 playoff win against Timothy Christian on Thursday. </p> <p>The Broncos are current 33-1 overall and 6-0 in their conference. In addition, the Broncos are currently leading the state of Illinois when it comes to their overall standing. </p> <p>Like all teams, there are notable athletes that are major contributors when it comes to a teams drive and success. </p> <p>Libero, <strong>Reeghan Boyer, </strong>is a key athlete when it comes to the Broncos wins as she is a key component to being the center point of the teams plays. This season, Boyer has been seen in 76 sets with 389 digs and 39 aces. Boyer is very quick and responsive on her feet and has no problem digging into the floor to save the ball. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="61724" first="Ariana" last="Joubert"],</strong> Outside Hitter, is another athlete that is a key scorer and contributor to moving the ball well around the court. Joubert stands at 6’2" and currently has 127 kills in the 68 sets played. With her height and athleticism, she is always in the right spot when she needs to be and she is quick to pop up to attempt a block to refrain from the other team scoring. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="61657" first="Paige" last="Pickering"], </strong>another outside hitter, is one to keep an eye on during the remainder of the state playoffs. Pickering is a very well-rounded athlete who is yet another contributor to the Broncos win and success thus far in the state playoffs. Pickering is fearless and currently has been seen in 66 sets with 311 kills and 166 digs. Needless to say, Pickering is diverse when she is on the court. She manages to move swiftly and is able to reflect the ball, along with being fearless when needing to score on the opposing team. </p>
