Recruiting the Iowa State Tournament - Monday Edition

The Iowa State Tournament is here! For these Class of 2022 Seniors, they will be playing their final matches as high school volleyball players and will be looking for the next step. For some, they are committed to play volleyball at the next level, others will focus strictly on academics, and some are still weighing their options. Where to go, to play or not to play, and what that looks like for them the next four years. For the record, if you are starting for a Class 4A or Class 5A state tournament caliber team, you have the ability to play at the next level. There will be spots for 2022s. It has been a rugged recruiting road for the Class of 2022, but once the college season ends, coaches will know what they need for the future of their program.   Class 5A has plenty of high level players who can play at the next level. I have listed a few of many. West Des Moines Dowling has a strong core of Seniors who have waited their turn for a chance to take the big stage. They have played high level club and are just adding icing to their already strong careers. Both schools out of Ankeny also have athletes who have competed at a high club level and have decorated high school careers. [player_tooltip player_id="103730" first="Lexi" last="Stephens"] (Ankeny) and [player_tooltip player_id="103731" first="Ella" last="Becker"] (Ankeny Centennial) start the offense from the first contact, as they will be returning as starting liberos in the state tournament. An outside hitter to watch for Pleasant Valley is [player_tooltip player_id="132854" first="Arra" last="Cottrell"], she has a big swing and knows how to score points. [player_tooltip player_id="162876" first="Livia" last="Thomsen"] is another Spartan who has quietly risen up the Class of 2022 liberos and would be a great late pickup for a college program. [player_tooltip player_id="17324" first="Faith" last="DeRonde"] leads the way where she could play multiple sports at the next level. She’s a state champion discus thrower, a state tournament softball pitcher, she can do it all. She is also one of the top kill leaders in Class 4A. Always nice to have options. Western Dubuque has been on the state stage since they had their magical run two years ago finishing as the state runner-up after knocking off top teams in Dubuque Wahlert and Xavier. [player_tooltip player_id="79233" first="Meredith" last="Bahl"] is one of the top attackers in Class 4A as well as [player_tooltip player_id="79244" first="Maddie" last="Harris"]. Harris is also a softball star where Western Dubuque won the Class 4A state softball title this past summer.
