Some of the athletes listed may have played multiple positions on the court, but we have chosen them for the positions that we think they excelled at the most.
We are proud to announce our First Team All State in this article series. We will be posting a few athletes at a time in order to give enough credit to each player. We are very proud of each player and everyone who helped them reach their goals this year. These players are being picked due to their individual performance on their teams this high school season. This next article in this series is devoted to the Liberos. These two young ladies are our picks for 1stTeam All- State.
1st Team All State Selection: Libero
Megan Salyer Megan Salyer 5'5" | DS/L Jenks | 2022 State OK [2022] 5-5 Libero (HS: Jenks/Club: Ultimate Performance Volleyball/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Megan is currently ranked as our 29th best overall prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays for Jenks High School and also club volleyball for UPVBC. We profiled her earlier in the year and wrote the following about her, “Megan has been stellar so far this season as she has already earned All Tournament at the Broken Arrow varsity tournament that she just helped Jenks win the Championship in. We watched her play in person at the Girls Junior National Championships this summer in Vegas and she was playing lights out. She showed great balance in her lower body in every aspect of the game. We loved her fast twitch muscles in action as she picked up a lot of emergency digs from deflections off of the block all weekend long. Not very much fell to the floor near her zone. She has every chance to move up the rankings as we watch her play this season. We are excited to cover her senior season and to have her as part of our Oklahoma State Rankings.” She helped lead Jenks to a 30-8 overall record and a 9-1 conference record. Her play in the back row was pivotal in helping Jenks secure a State Championship. In her final season at Jenks, she tallied 475 digs, 538 service receptions, and 44 aces. This kind of production against some of the best competition in the state is the main reason why she has earned 1st Team All-State. Please help us congratulate her on the honor.
1st Team All State Selection: Libero
Sydney Thompson Sydney Thompson 5'8" | DS/L Washington | 2022 State OK [2022] 5-8 Libero (HS: Washington/Club: Ultimate Performance Volleyball/Signed: Oklahoma)
Sydney is currently ranked as our 25th best overall prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays for Washington High School and a great club program in Ultimate Performance Volleyball. We profiled her earlier in the year and wrote the following about her, “She is very athletic and moves extremely well all over the court whether she is covering her hitters or reading the offense to put herself in a great position to dig the ball. Her strong upper body frame allows her to control the ball very well in serve receive and be an extremely consistent passer. Most liberos have trouble digging in both directions well, but Syd has a quick release going in both directions. Any school that is looking for a libero who can play all three back row positions should be giving her a look or two as she could really help a program. Please help us congratulate her on achieving such great accomplishments of being a top player in the state. Stay tuned for more on her senior year.” We watched as she was stellar out of the back row during her senior season. Miss Thompson has committed to play volleyball at Oklahoma University recently and they are getting a good one. Her athleticism shines and she can play the game at any position due to her size. She used her outstanding range very well for Booker T Washington this season. Please help us in congratulating her on earning 1st Team All-State.
