Some of the athletes listed may have played multiple positions on the court, but we have chosen them for the positions that we think they excelled at the most.
We are proud to announce our First Team All State in this article series. We will be posting a few athletes at a time in order to give enough credit to each player. We are very proud of each player and everyone who helped them reach their goals this year. These players are being picked due to their individual performance on their teams this high school season. The third article in this series is devoted to the Middles. These two young ladies are our picks for 1st Team All- State.
1st Team All State Selection: Middle Blockers
Mikiah Perdue Mikiah Perdue 5'10" | MB Jenks | 2022 State OK [2022] 5-10 Middle (HS: Jenks/Club: UPVBC/Verbal: Union University)
Mikiah is currently ranked as our 30th best overall prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. We profiled her earlier this year and we stated the following, “She is one of the leaders for Jenks High School and one of the best club teams in the Sooner state in the 17’s age group at UPVBC. She has helped Jenks to a 26-10 overall record and an 8-0 district record during her junior season. Last season she had 192 kills in 477 attempts for a .210 hitting percentage and also 97 blocks. We love her athleticism that she shows on the court out of the middle position. While she may not be a six-footer, she still plays well above the net and has the foot-speed to close out on the blocks against both pins. This kid is a stud and has all of the tools to move up our rankings during our next update. She is super explosive off of the ground and hits a tremendously heavy ball. What is astonishing is her hand-contact. She wraps her hand completely around the ball and can paint the ten-foot line if she gets the chance to. Keep your eye on this kid as the sky is the limit for her.” This young lady played lights out this season and was a main reason why Jenks high school just won the 6A State Title. She has been a big leader on the floor and was a big reason why her varsity team has a lot of fight in them. She was huge in helping them come back from a 2-1 deficit in the State Championship to win it all in 5 sets. The Union University commit showed lots of skill this year and this is why she has earned 1st Team All-State. Please congratulate her on the achievement.
1st Team All State Selection: Middle Blockers
Madison Edwards Madison Edwards 6'0" | MB Edmond Santa Fe | 2022 State OK [2022] 6-0 Middle (HS: Santa Fe/Club: Oklahoma Peak Performance/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Madison is currently ranked as our 22nd best overall prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays for Santa Fe High School and a one of the best club programs in the state in Oklahoma Peak Performance. We profiled her earlier this year and here is what we stated, “Madison is a very talented middle that is a big weapon for both teams she plays for. She has one of the fastest arm swings in the age group and hits the ball with authority. The best aspect is her ability to run every single route on the middle route tree with speed and agility. She would be a great fit for any college program in the middle or a pin position. She stops on a dime during transition and drives hard toward her setter to hit the quick attack. She has college level power and athleticism and deserves a couple of looks from the next level. This young lady has the ability to move up the rankings with her continued high-level play. Please help us congratulate her on achieving such great accomplishments of being a top player in the state. Stay tuned for more on her senior year.” I watched Madison in person at the Bishop McGuinness high school tournament and she was very impressive in person. Her strong frame allowed her to be super consistent with both her offensive and defensive skill-sets. Recently she helped Santa Fe beat Edmond Memorial in the first round at the State tourney. They then barely lost to powerhouse Norman North in five sets in the semi-finals of state. Madison showed us this year just how strong she is and why we have chosen her for our 1st Team All-State award. Please help us congratulate her on receiving the award.
