One of our missions at Prep Dig is to highlight as many teams and prospects as possible around the state, from State Championship contenders and household names to underdogs and special talents who might be flying under-the-radar.
We spend a lot of time at the gyms gathering information and watching matches and will use this space to highlight some of the teams and players we got to watch in person. Today we’ll address the Tomball Cougars.
Tomball Cougars
The Cougars play for the Tomball High School. Their season came to an end on Tuesday evening, when they lost a bi-district match to Bridgeland, and they finished with a solid 27-16 win record. Head coach Jordan Williams and her players ranked third in the Class 6A, Region II – District 15 with an 8-4 campaign.

Players to Watch:
Kaitlyn Davis – Outside Hitter – Club: Texas Legacy – 2024
A second-year player for the Cougars, Kaitlyn Davis gives a lot of consistency to the team with her well-rounded game. The 5’9” outside hitter has great length and is very intelligent and calm with her offensive decisions, knowing exactly when to unleash her power or to tool the block. She barely makes any mistakes and is very solid on the backcourt too. Davis led Tomball is kills and aces this season with 367 and 35 respectively and also had extremely relevant contributions in digging (390) and serve receiving (596).
Lily Hopkins – Libero – Club: Houston Juniors – 2023
An electric, yet extremely focused defender, Lily Hopkins has been a stud for Tomball in the backcourt. With her efficient game, the 5’5” libero has kept things on track for the Cougars when it comes to defense and serve receiving with her superb combination of great positioning and superior ball control. Unsurprisingly, she led the team in both categories with 577 digs and 616 passes, but also had a prominent role from the service line, registering a team-high 35 aces. Hopkins will continue her career at the collegiate level with Alabama.
Amelie Grostabussiat – Middle Blocker – 2023
A high-energy player, Amelie Grostabussiat knows how to make her presence felt at the net. Extremely vocal and positive, the 5’11” middle blocker is very consistent with her game and offers the Cougars a reliable option down the middle. Her offense is really solid and includes the ability to hit from the right, having generated 136 kills for Tomball, but blocking is arguably what she does best, having produced a team-high 61 stuffs over the course of the season.
