The 2021 volleyball season has come to a close, but the stats always live on! In this series, I want to highlight some players in the top 30 volleyball KHSAA stat book. Starting off, we have the kills leaders.

[player_tooltip player_id="126306" first="McKinlee" last="Potter"]- Finishing with 624 kills for the season, [player_tooltip player_id="126306" first="McKinlee" last="Potter"], senior, was a force as an outside hitter for Pikeville High School. Her ability to get a kill in system is on point, but what you love to watch most is how she plays out of system. Potter can tool the block from every angle, but she also knows the strategic spots to place the ball. Pikeville ended up winning their district but fell short in the region semifinals. Potter was a big factor in this 29-10 season and will be missed on the squad.

[player_tooltip player_id="104553" first="Halle" last="Langhi"]- A 6’1 senior from Marshall County, Langhi ended up 17th in the state for the most kills with 387. Of course, her height helped her become a dominant force for the squad, but her heavy arm swing really set her apart from other outside hitters. Langhi became a top hitter in the state because of her physical attributes but also due to her accountability to put the ball away in meaningful situations. Marshall County ended up winning their district where Langhi had 15 kills, but they eventually lost to Ballard Memorial in the Region 1 semifinals. Langhi of course closed out her career swinging with 9 kills in just 3 sets. This baller will be missed!

[player_tooltip player_id="159328" first="Sophie" last="Dufour"]- With 516 kills on the season, freshman, [player_tooltip player_id="159328" first="Sophie" last="Dufour"], placed 8th in the state for most kills. A young stud from Franklin County, Defour impacted the Lady Flyers from every position whether it was hitting, blocking, serving, or passing. Dufour would find a way to get a kill from any spot on the court, and that is how she had so many kills on the season. As just a freshman, she helped lead her team to a district runner-up title!! It’ll be fun for everyone to see the [player_tooltip player_id="159328" first="Sophie" last="Dufour"] journey continue over the next few years.

[player_tooltip player_id="106695" first="Megan" last="Sweeney"]- From Eminence, [player_tooltip player_id="106695" first="Megan" last="Sweeney"], junior, concluded the season with 325 kills which landed her a 25th place finish in the state. Sweeney had an epic match in the district championship where she led her team with a solid 19 kills and 2 blocks which eventually helped the team to a win. Her squad ended up losing in the first region game, but don’t think Sweeney stopped balling out. This kid ended her junior campaign with 19 kills, 11 digs, and a service ace. She just never stops! Can’t wait to watch Megan in her final season next year.
