Barrick had a big match offensively for CHCA as she terminated 19 kills for a 6.3 per set average to lead the Eagles in their 3-0 win over Versailles. CHCA improves to 22-5 overall with the win and earns their spot in the state semifinals in Division III. Terminating 48% of her attempts in this match, she hit at a .385 clip. The 5’10 freshman outside hitter has nearly 300 kills on the season with an average of 3.5 per set. Barrick gets off the floor well and has a big arm in the air. She has good all-around skills that make her one of the top freshman in the state. CHCA, currently ranked #12, plays Liberty-Benton this Friday.</p>
<p><strong>Maddie Daniel</strong> - 2023 | Monroeville<br />
The Monroeville Eagles defeated the Wellsville Tigers 3-1 in the regional final at Strongsville to advance to the state semifinals. Daniel had a big match as she led her team with 23 total kills, averaging 5.8 per set while hitting .246. She also led her team with four service aces and added 10 digs on the defensive side. The Eagles are 23-4 overall and currently ranked #14 in the most recent Ohio DIV poll. They play St. Henry next for a trip to the state championship finals.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="114495" first="Ellie" last="Gabel"] </strong>- 2022 | New Knoxville<br />
Gabel totaled 51 assists in New Knoxville’s big 3-1 win over last year’s DIV state champion Calvert. After dropping a tight extra-point first set 28-26, the Rangers claimed the next three sets in dramatic fashion 25-23, 25-23, 25-22. Gabel averaged nearly 13 assists per set while also picking up a team high 29 digs in the match. She was one assist shy of her season high as she is averaging about 11 assists per set on the season. Gabel and New Knoxville, 25-2 and currently ranked #2 in Ohio’s Division IV state poll, next take on South Webster.</p>
<p><strong>Sammi Hoffman</strong> - 2022 | Roger Bacon<br />
The senior setter dished out 33 assists in the 3-0 win over Badin to help advance her team to the state semifinals. With an average of 11 assists per set, Hoffman guided the Spartans’ offense to a .405 attacking efficiency for the match. She also led her team with four service aces. She has twice eclipsed the 50-set mark this season. Roger Bacon, led offensively by the 20 kills and .621 efficiency from sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="114590" first="Kelsey" last="Niesen"], is 21-6 overall and play Bishop Hartley on Friday.</p>
