Tehya Chadwick Tehya Chadwick OH Chino Hills | 2022 CA , 5-11 Outside, Sr, Chino Hills – The Huskies rode Chadwick all year so it’s no surprise they did so one last time en route to the Division 3 championship. Chadwick had a match-high 16 kills on 33 swings while hitting .303. It took her a little bit to settle in but once she did she started finding the floor on a regular basis.
Malena Thé, 5-8 Outside, Jr, Chino Hills – The play of Thé early on gave the Huskies the lift they needed until Chadwick started coming on. The junior finished with 14 kills on 36 swings. Ten of those came in the first two sets when she hit .348.
Ashlee Sento, 5-8 Right Side, Soph, Chino Hills – Had the Huskies not finished on top they might have been remiss in not getting Sento more swings. She had just 10 of them in three sets but she was ready when called upon. She ended with 5 kills and hit .400 with just one error.
Paige Gutowski, 5-8 Libero, Sr, Chino Hills – Carondelet did its best to keep Gutowski out of serve receive. The senior finished with just 11 receptions as the Cougars weren’t about to let the Huskies start with a solid first contact from the libero. She did put up 13 digs as she helped slow the Cougars’ attack down. In addition, Gutowski did a good job in a secondary role when the play broke down, finishing with 8 assists to keep the offense going.
Ilyssa Ocampo, 5-3 Libero, Sr, Carondelet – The stat sheet says the senior finished with 6 digs, which doesn’t seem correct. She was active and used her to speed to pick up what seemed like more than that number of digs. She also finished tied for the team lead in aces with 2.
Naomi Seivold, 5-8 Outside, Sr, Carondelet – Seivold was set the least among the hitters. However, she played a key role defensively by recording a match-high 17 digs. She also was cog in serve receive, along with Ocampo, as the pair combined for 47 receptions.
Avery Ehrlich, 5-9 Outside, Sr, Carondelet – The Cougars struggled to get Ehrlich’s looks early on but the senior did her part to make up for as the match wore on. She ended up leading the team in kills with 9 on a team-high 21 swings. She hit .381, as Chino Hills had a tough time finding an answer to stop her. She also tied for the team lead in blocks with 2.
Bella Ehrlich, 6-0 Middle Blocker, Fr, Carondelet – The freshman wasn’t put into the match until the third set but contributed and was part of the reason the Cougars almost forced a fourth set. Ehrlich had 3 kills on 7 swings and 1.5 blocks in her limited time on the court.
