Once again, stock risers are the first to be featured. Keep in mind that this new set of rankings is largely influenced by what we just saw in this fall’s high school season. The upcoming club season will be an excellent opportunity to see so many more players and add a lot of names to our list. And, most importantly, remember that the Class of 2024 still has plenty of time to make a big impression!
Now, let’s tell you about a few 2024s that climbed the leaderboard in this week’s update.
Olivia Mauch Olivia Mauch 5'7" | DS/L Bennington | 2024 State #49 Nation NE – 5’7 DS/L – Bennington
Mauch’s on-court impact is nearly unmatched at the libero position. She regularly dimes passes and makes digging heat look easy. Her club ventures will take her to a new environment with Premier, and I’m excited to see how she adapts.
Paisley Douglas Paisley Douglas 5'5" | DS/L Omaha Skutt Catholic | 2024 State #123 Nation NE – 5’5 DS/L – Omaha Skutt Catholic
There’s inherently a lot of pressure in taking the libero jersey for a storied program like Omaha Skutt, but Douglas handled it incredibly well. Her ascent up the leaderboard could continue as she plays with the 17s in club competition.
Paige Frickenstein Paige Frickenstein 6'1" | OH Archbishop Bergan | 2024 State NE – 6’0 OH – Archbishop Bergan
Frickenstein quickly became one of the most physical attackers in her class this year. Bergan soared to the state title match behind the heavy heat of their sophomore outside hitter, and Frickenstein is only going to get better.
Megan Waters Megan Waters 5'10" | OH Lincoln East | 2024 State NE – 5’10 OH – Lincoln East
Lincoln East has a new go-to hitter emerging on the left side. Waters has the length and the power to intimidate any opposing defense — something that VCNebraska will be excited to have on their side in the club season.
Ali Bruning Ali Bruning 5'8" | S Nebraska Christian | 2024 State NE – 5’8 S – Nebraska Christian
Put simply, Bruning is a gamechanger at the setter spot. Nebraska Christian is on a massive upward trajectory behind her leadership, and it almost culminated in a state championship match appearance this year. Bruning will continue to impress for VCN this winter.
Faith Frame Faith Frame 5'6" | DS/L Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State #167 Nation NE – 5’6 DS/L – Gretna
There seems to be a huge group of strong defensive specialists in this 2024 class, and Frame is one you can add to the list. Gretna was one of the strongest ball control teams in the state this year, and their sophomore libero was a big reason for that.
Morgan Bode Morgan Bode 6'1" | MB Papillion-La Vista South | 2024 State NE – 6’1 MB – Papillion-La Vista South
Bode certainly did not look out of place on that experienced, senior-laden Papio South squad that won a Class A title this year. She locks down the net like a veteran, and the upcoming club season presents a great opportunity to raise her stock even further.
Tatum Godinez Tatum Godinez 5'11" | RS Omaha Westside | 2024 State NE – 5’10 RS – Omaha Westside
Godinez was one of the Nebraska athletes who made the trek to Grimes for the Prep Dig Iowa Top 250 Expo. The trip surely paid off, as she stood out for both her attacking skills and relentless floor defense.
Summer Bojanski Summer Bojanski 5'4" | DS/L Bergan | 2024 State NE – 5’1 DS/L – Archbishop Bergan
I had to include a second Archbishop Bergan player on this feature, as Bojanski had the kind of season that you can’t overlook. Her transition to the libero jersey was a smooth one, and she will have that backcourt locked down for a while.
Keira Hennerberg Keira Hennerberg 5'6" | S Diller-Odell | 2024 State NE – 5’5 S – Diller-Odell
Diller-Odell is developing a tradition of talented setters, and Hennerberg is surely another one to follow. Her distribution was always sharp, and she managed to bring the Griffins back to the state championships.
