Continue ReadingThere is a ton of talent in all classes of rankings here at PD. Some have shown out enough to get a huge increase in their rankings, but still haven’t found a home. Here are five rising stars from the class of ’22 that should get a ton of attention as club season starts.
Maddie Kmetz Maddie Kmetz 5'9" | S Andrean | 2022 State IN , 5-9 S, Andrean, Michio Chicago
The starting setter for the 2A state champion has shown her worth everywhere you could possibly be seen, including at the Prep Dig Top 250 yesterday at the Academy. 2500 assists and a ton of playing time later, she’s the 5-1 setter that most schools envy other teams having. Her maturity is through the roof, she knows whom to set and when, and is a natural leader both on and off the court. She didn’t have to be at our event yesterday—–there were only four seniors in attendance. She came all the same, and was easily the best setter in the building.
Amaya Lowry Amaya Lowry 5'9" | RS Heritage Christian | 2022 State IN , 5-9 RS, Heritage Christian, Rev
Although Amaya could play on either pin, she showed all of us at the PD event yesterday that the right side is her home. Her heavy attack without fear is something most right sides learn all too late in their careers. Miss Lowry comes from winning club and high school programs, and should bring physicality almost immediately to any school that wants her.
Olivia Krahn Olivia Krahn 5'7" | DS/L Homestead | 2022 State IN , 5-7 DS/L, Homestead, Empowered
Olivia reads and reacts with a smoothness that is unprecedented, and can bring that maturity to any of the three back row positions. Although she was mostly a three-rotation DS on Empowered last spring, she could wear the special jersey and can lead by example upon arrival to a campus that needs her. Also from winning high school and club programs, that willingness to work and relentlessness only comes to players that get it, and Miss Krahn definitely understands how to win.
Sarah Lezon Sarah Lezon 5'11" | RS Roncalli | 2022 State IN , 5-11 RS, Roncalli, Team Indiana
A heavy-armed right side, Sarah can easily play as a three-rotation left side too. She’s strong, jumps well, has a high volleyball IQ, and comes from a winning background. The fact that a kid this tall and athletic is still available at this stage of recruiting is a surprise to me, and wherever she lands will be blessed with a steal of a player from central Indiana.
Abby Weaver Abby Weaver 5'8" | OH Homeschool | 2022 State IN , 5-8 OH, Homeschooled, NIVA, committed to Liberty
Explosive and powerful, Abby goes from zero to 100 in a hurry, both in the jump and in her arm swing. She’s a six-rotation passer that can jump out of the gym, and a kid that uses her compact frame as a fast-twitch machine on every play. Her read-and-react time frame is fast, her jump is fast, and her arm swing is fast. Everything about her is fast and powerful, and I pity her opponents next fall.
