Ella Boersema Ella Boersema 6'2" | MB Churubusco | 2024 State #178 Nation IN , 6-2, Team Pineapple , Churubusco
Length and width. Middles should have plenty of both if they wish to play at the next level. In Ella’s case, she has plenty in supply. On defense, her length allows her to press across low and tight, making hitters feel claustrophobic, and her width eliminates hitters from seeing an open seam. On offense, her long strides get her to fast sets behind the setter, while her width allows her to hit every angle after getting up quickly.
Taylor Lewis Taylor Lewis 6'1" | OH Cathedral | 2024 State #179 Nation IN , 6-1, Munciana, Cathedral
Taylor’s breakout season was this past fall, winning a sectional title while adding over three kills per set as the M2. She projects as such at the next level, but with her Munciana training, she should add to her already prolific skill set. Her length is always on display, and although she plays basketball, her multi-sport training will be an advantage in the long run. I like her ability to terminate, as she’s already in the 3+ kps/.300 category stat-wise.
Scarlett Kimbrell Scarlett Kimbrell 6'0" | OH Franklin Community | 2024 State IN , 6-0, Academy, Franklin Community
Another multi-sport stud, Scarlett has started on varsity for both volleyball and basketball since her freshman year. Easily the best blocker on volleyball among the Grizzly Cubs, her responsibilities for a top 25 basketball team nationally make sense for volleyball too—her quiet demeanor, lead-by-example attitude will take her as far as she wishes. For me, this is another 3+/.300 kid that can fit into any volleyball situation at either middle position.
Tiffany Snook Tiffany Snook 6'2" | MB Hamilton Southeastern | 2024 State #186 Nation IN , 6-2, Munciana, Hamilton Southeastern
Long and lean for days, Tiffany uses that length to go around and over pretty much every block she’s seen. She can also defend pin to pin, and combining her Munciana training with her top-ten high school experience, she just needs a little more strength to get to that ten foot plateau.
Abby Sollenberger Abby Sollenberger 6'2" | MB Brownsburg | 2024 State IN , 6-2, Circle City, Brownsburg
A big, strong middle is what you get out of Abby. She hits a heavy ball from the middle, especially off of two feet. I also like her strong shoulders when she blocks. Rarely does she get tooled, and it seems her hands and shoulders are always in perfect position, once her feet get her there.
