Players drove from Houston, San Antonio, Amarillo, Austin, Oklahoma, and all around the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area to test their skills and showcase their talents amongst some of the state’s best players to college coaches and our scouts. The following players stood out to us and should be given a look or two from many colleges. This next volume will cover some amazing middles that attended.
Averie Dembickie Averie Dembickie 6'0" | MB Churchill | 2023 State TX [2023] 6-1 Middle (HS: Churchill/Club: SA Elite/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Averie is currently ranked as the 119th best overall prospect in the 2023 class. She is a solid and efficient middle from Churchill High School and also plays club for San Antonio Elite out of the San Antonio area. We listed her as a top performer because of how well she played in both the positional drills and the team drills. She has been on our radar and will likely move up the rankings with what we saw in person last Sunday. Averie is a wall and very little gets by her. This young lady has been popping up on many coaches radar’s after being named an AAU All American this past summer. She has a college level frame already and will only get stronger as she progresses. This kid is able to do damage on both ends of the floor both as s blocker and an elite attacker. She stays very active and tall throughout the whole rally with a high motor. Every court coach wrote her number down as a top performer so that tells you that she steals the show. We loved having her in the gym and look forward to covering her for the future.
Kaelynn Sims [2025] 5-11 Middle (HS: Sachse/Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Kaelynn is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings, but she will absolutely be listed when I update them later this month. She plays high school volleyball at Sachse High School and also club for Dallas Skyline. She is a talented and long middle who can also double as a right side if need be. She played both for Sachse and is able to run every route along the middle route tree as a young player. She is very light and quick on her feet which allows her to set up the block early and well for her team’s defense. I was super impressed with her athleticism last Sunday as she showcased it very well amongst the upperclassmen in the positional drills. She has a very high ceiling that college coaches should be keeping an eye on. We are looking forward to covering her this club season and can’t wait to update the rankings to see where she lands. Please stay tuned for more on her as we will be watching closely.
Samaya Wesson [2023] 6-1 Middle (HS: Trinity/Club: Texas Image/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Samaya is currently an unranked prospect according to our rankings but what we saw this weekend at the Expo made us do a few double takes. We have her now on our watch list and intend to see if she can make it on our rankings in the update this month. She plays at Trinity High School and also for Texas Image out of the North Texas Region. What stole the show for me was just how well she closed her blocks. Her footwork is fantastic and if the outside blocker makes a last minute adjustment, Samaya closes extremely well with her arms/hands and still presses to seal the net. Most people will be in awe of her high touch and natural power, but she also possesses an uncanny ability to slow her arm swing down when necessary to score with an off speed attack. Miss Wesson is someone who has everything you want in a middle with her length, speed, power and grace. We are excited to keep watching her and see if she can make it on the state rankings. Stay tuned.
There are more volumes of middles that stood out from what I saw at the Expo. Stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes.
