Players drove from Houston, San Antonio, Amarillo, Austin, Oklahoma, and all around the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area to test their skills and showcase their talents amongst some of the state’s best players to college coaches and our scouts. The following players stood out to us and should be given a look or two from many colleges. This next volume will cover some outstanding outside hitters that attended.
Megan Weldon Megan Weldon 6'0" | OH Oakridge | 2023 State TX [2023] 6-0 Outside (HS: Nolan Catholic/Club: Texas Advantage /Verbal: Uncommitted)
We currently have her ranked as the 110th best prospect overall in the 2023 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays for some great programs in the Dallas area in Nolan Catholic high school and Texas Advantage Volleyball club. I loved how she hit the ball at the true peak of her reach. This really helps her attacks stay deadly to opponents. She has great length and can play at either pin position, and her power is very strong. Megan stood out to many court coaches amongst all of the great talent that showcased themselves at the Expo. She was extremely competitive and had a great attitude toward everyone on each court. We loved the joy she showed while competing at a high level. This kind of leadership is key for any school looking for a point scoring six-rotation outside hitter. Miss Weldon is one who we enjoyed having in the gym and look forward to covering this club season. She has what it takes to move up our state rankings with what we saw in person.
Maggie Cox [2023] 5-10 Outside (HS: Marcus/Club: Dallas Summit/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Maggie is currently an unranked prospect in the 2023 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays for Marcus high school and also for Dallas Summit volleyball club. We have had our eye on her for a while now and have been following her closely. She was a pivotal member of her varsity team as they went on a good run into the state playoffs. This young lady has been placed on our watch list due to her versatility and athleticism. She is a multi-sport athletes who excels in beach volleyball, track, softball and volleyball. Our court coaches were wowed last Sunday at the Expo with the power in her right arm and her ability to move the ball around at will. I agreed with their assessment that she has tons of potential and should be given a few looks by schools as she can help a roster out in a few years. She has a great vertical and lots of body control to score in a variety of ways. It was fantastic to meet her in person finally and I hope to watch her in person at a club tournament this year. If you have a chance, stop by her court and check out her all around abilities. If you need a true six-rotation outside, look no further.
Kennedi Wright [2023] 5-9 Outside (HS: John Paul II/Club: Dallas Skyline/ Verbal: Uncommitted)
Kennedi is currently an unranked prospect in the 2023 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is a very dynamic point scorer from John Paul II High School and also from Dallas Skyline Volleyball club from the North Texas Region. This kid is a high flier and has tons of power from a lightning quick right arm. She is fast on the left and is capable of hitting second tempo sets out of the middle also. Kennedi is a true threat to score from anywhere on the court. Her court coaches at the Expo mentioned her back row abilities. When I went to look at her court, I was very impressed with what I saw as she showcased some great range defensively and tons of explosiveness all around the court. She is now on our watch list and we will be keep our eye on her very closely this club season. Give her a solid look if you want an athlete who can add some much needed firepower to your college roster.
