Players listed in alphabetical order
Stella Emery Day Stella Emery Day 5'11" | RS Walled Lake Central | 2023 State MI , RS SCA/Revolution: Day has a good feel for the play as its developing. Her out-of-system swings were among some of the best in her group, but she also has good instincts defensively while being able to dial up a power swing when its needed.
Lillian DeJong Lillian DeJong 5'11" | RS Mercy | 2023 MI , RS Mercy/L2: Standing 6’0”, DeJong was able to play a lot of powerful swings and be a force on defense. If she can continue to work on her explosiveness and vertical, it really could add a big dimension to her overall game.
Carly Frank, RS Marine City/Monsters: Another standout from the day, Frank’s attacks definitely had a different sound and speed. In the beginning she was having some location issues, but easily corrected it and really found her groove.
Tess Griffith, OH Ionia/Attack: Griffith had some really impressive hang time. She was able to seemingly sit in the air at times and wait for her attacks. She also has a long reach, which gives her some great intangibles. As she adds new dynamics and swings to her game, she can be really special.
Anna Hesse Anna Hesse 5'11" | OH Saline | 2023 State MI , OH Saline/Five:1: Hesse was another standout from the event. She had a natural instinct to adjust the play as it was happening, which helped her get into positions to succeed. Hesse put good swings on almost any ball that came her way and she was a quick-to-react defender.
Kennedy Hudson, L/DS Lakeland/L2: Hudson is definitely an effort player with a lot of determination. She wants to be great and get to every ball. Her competitive fire will take her a long ways, but she also has the athleticism to compliment it.
Ella Jacobs, MH Port Huron/Infinity VC: Jacobs really caught my eye early on as she was a gamer. She was adapting well to all the drills and competitions, especially for a middle. She’s got the all-around skillset to be a great player and she can deliver a very strong attack. As she finds more consistency with her finishing, she can be a dominant middle.
Margaret Jones, MH Shrine/Michigan Elite: Jones is similar to Jacobs where she is a middle, but has the skills to help a team anywhere. She can move well in the back row to defend, but has the length at the net to be a top finisher and blocker. One of the standouts in the class for the day, Jones just needs to be more confident on the floor, as she’s definitely got the tools to be great.
Olivia Krill, MH Lakeland/Team Detroit: Krill has a lot of quickness to her game, which is a big asset at the position. She can rotate over to the pin well and also quickly develops timing with new setters. Defensively, she’s got a keen sense for blocking and gets a lot of touches on opponents’ attacks.
Emma Larkins Emma Larkins 5'11" | OH Clarkston | 2023 State MI , OH Clarkston/Michigan Elite: Larkins was selected as another standout on the day. She is a player that might not be the best at any one particular aspect, but is great at all aspects. She’s got a lot of spring on the court and moves very smoothly. Larkins doesn’t overreact to anything and let’s the game come to her.
Lainey Lichota, L/DS Port Huron/Michigan Elite: Lichota is always on her toes and ready to make a play. She doesn’t have to throw her body around too much, because she has good anticipation of where she needs to be and times out her receptions well.
