With our latest Class of 2023 rankings coming out earlier in the month, let’s get a closer look at this group of middles.
Here’s how they break down in our latest listing.
1. Abigail Reck Abigail Reck 6'2" | MB Northville | 2023 State #74 Nation MI , Northville/Legacy
Reck really broke out in a big way last club season and she’s only added more dimensions to her game since. Reck showed during the prep season that she can play at the pin, but her club time has seen her as a dominant middle. She’s got elite athleticism to be dominant offensive and defensively. Reck recently committed to Northeastern University.
2. Laurece Abraham Laurece Abraham 6'1" | MB Country Day | 2023 State #111 Nation MI , Detroit Country Day/Legacy
The Yale commit has really come into her own as of late. She plays with a lot of command, and plays very high above the net. Abraham is very explosive and a great finisher, but she makes everything look easy and natural while moving around the floor. Her confidence as at an all-time high and that’s only going to take her to greater heights.
3. Raegan Lantz Raegan Lantz 6'1" | OH West Ottawa | 2023 State MI , West Ottawa/MVA
Similar to Reck, Lantz was used as an outside hitter during the prep season and was able to showcase a well-rounded game. She’s very agile and quick to a spot to be able to be a reliable passer, but it’s her power when she connects with a ball that is impressive. Whether its on a serve or a swing, when Lantz winds up, the ball is coming with a lot of velocity and at a sharp angle.
4. Olivia Gardner Olivia Gardner 6'2" | MB Dakota | 2023 State MI , Dakota/Legacy
Gardner was a big reason for Dakota’s run to the Division 1 semifinals this prep season. She was a team leader offensively and defensively. She hit an impressive .380 for the season, as she always put herself in position to finish points. Defensively, she was the team leader in blocks. Gardner also worked hard to add other dimensions to her game and is still showing a very high ceiling.
5. Kam Burbridge Kam Burbridge 6'1" | MB Grand Haven | 2023 State MI , Grand Haven/MVA
Burbridge has a lot of power with her swing and is able to power past opposing blocks with relative ease. She’s shown great timing with her setters, which allows her to deliver with a high termination rate. Burbridge is also able to put herself in good defensive position to get her hands on a lot of opposing attacks.
