We are very proud of each player and everyone who helped them reach their goals this year. These players are being picked due to their individual performance on their teams this high school season. This next article in this series is devoted to the Middles. These two young ladies are our picks for 2nd Team All- State.
2nd Team All State Selection: Middles
Reaghan Thompson Reaghan Thompson 6'0" | MB Clear Creek | 2022 State TX [2022] 6-0 Middle (HS: Clear Creek/Club: Club South/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Reaghan is currently ranked as the 59th best high school prospect in the 2022 class in the State of Texas. In our previous article we wrote the following, “Miss Thompson is a middle who turns on a dime out of transition to blast away at opponents. She powers through blockers at will on a 51 set. Her timing is impeccable on a shoot set in the three position on the net. She is one of the best point scorers I have seen out of the middle in a while. She is able to hit both to zone five and across her body to zone one also. She plays for a small club in the south side of Houston called Club South. She has a great rapport with her setter at her Clear Creek high school team and they have no problems with their timing on any of the quick sets. Reaghan can explode in the air at will to pound the ball out of the middle. She is a force to be reckoned with in her district. We are looking forward to seeing her grow over the next two years on the court. Over three years on varsity she has accumulated 522 kills, hit an impressive .281, had 33 aces and totaled 160 blocks. She helped Clear Creek go 14-11 overall and 9-3 in district. She is so quick off the ground that it is difficult to time her from an opponent’s perspective. When you match that with her explosive arm, you have a player who will continue to tear it up during her senior season next year. She is no stranger to playing at a high level as she has been on a USA High Performance team in 2019. Keep your eye on her as we are. She has been on fire during her senior season. She is sitting at 400 kills on a .380 hitting percentage on the year and they are still in district play. Reaghan also has 149 blocks and 29 aces for her squad. She is one of the main reasons why Creek has a 26-14 overall record and they are currently 9-1 in district. Her production out of the middle has been superb and is the main reason why she is in the running for an All-State award.” Her offensive skill-set is amazing and she showed out during her senior season. We are proud to announce that she has earned 2nd Team All-State from our publication. Please congratulate her on the achievement.
2nd Team All State Selection: Middles
Emma Williams Emma Williams 6'4" | MB Brazoswood | 2022 State #195 Nation TX [2022] 6-3 Middle (HS: Brazoswood/Club: Absolute Volleyball Academy/Verbal: University of North Texas)
Miss Williams is currently ranked as our 12th best overall prospect and 3rd best middle in the state according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is a lengthy solid middle from the Lake Jackson area located about an hour south of Houston. She plays high school at Brazoswood High School and club for the amazing AVA of Texas club program out of south Houston. We previewed her this month when we announced her college decision and here is a little of what we wrote, “The four-year varsity starter has been superb in her junior volleyball career. In four years, she has tallied 792 kills on an impressive .240 hitting percentage. She also has a massive 415 blocks and 39 aces. North Texas just got a lot taller and more aggressive with their pick up of Emma. She can hit every set along the middle route tree and has the ability to hit around a block really well. This kid drives super hard with her approach and is getting some fantastic training with the great Katy Garza. We are proud to announce that she recently committed to playing volleyball at the University of North Texas. She will be a great addition to the Mean Green roster next year. Please help us congratulate Miss Williams on achieving her dream of playing college volleyball. We have been watching closely and this year alone she has been filing up the stat book. Emma has 263 kills on a very impressive .343 hitting percentage. She also has 96 blocks and 33 aces on the season.” Miss Williams was on another level with blocking and hitting efficiency this past high school season. We could not ignore that kind of production as we chose our awards for All-State. Please congratulate Emma on earning 2nd Team All-State from our publication. It is well deserved and we cannot wait to see what she does at the next level.
