Continue ReadingWe have been watching the 2023 class very closely throughout the entire high school season and used the data of wins and losses, stats, district finishes, awards, in person tournaments, matches and of course the amazing footage that has been uploaded to everyone’s recruiting profiles. We have been talking to a lot of coaches across the country and this class is littered with college prospects. The following players showed us all that they deserved to be moved up the rankings.
Lauren Murphy [2023] 6-4 Middle (HS: Round Rock/Club: Austin Juniors/Verbal: Ohio State)
Miss Murphy has moved up the rankings. Lauren is now ranked as the 21st best overall prospect in the state in the 2023 class. We have profiled her a few times now and here is a refresher, “She is a long player who excels at the net for her high school and club program in the Austin area. She primarily plays on the right for Round Rock high school and has helped her Varsity team become a force in their district. Her long extremities allow her to be a show stopping middle. She regularly slows down opposing hitters with her ability to penetrate the net. She will only get better with time as she gets even faster and more acclimated to the Varsity level. She is capable of running all sets along the net with her setters. She can hit multiple tempos with ease and will be moving up the ranking as she progresses in her skills. She already has a great whip of an arm that brings some heat to her high touch on the ball. This makes her a deadly weapon for both school and club. We can’t wait to cover her during the club season and we want to welcome her with open arms to our State Ranking List. Recently she was added to the “10 foot club” meaning she can touch ten feet high with her attack approach. She has been lauded as Newcomer of the year by numerous publications. It is safe to say that her stock is rising fast. College coaches were around the court watching all weekend. We are extremely proud and she will likely move up the rankings during the next update. We have watched as Lauren has tallied the second most kills amongst juniors across the entire state of Texas this season. Her stats are phenomenal as she has amassed 533 kills on a .279 hitting percentage. She also had 59 blocks and 56 aces on the year. This state has some amazing players and to be that productive on the court in a team sport is amazing. Please congratulate her on being nominated for an All-State award. It was a no brainer for us to select this amazing middle for an All-State award. She had the second most kills in the entire state and dominated at the net. We will also be moving her up the rankings at our next update due to her stellar play. This young lady is very deserving of our publication’s inaugural 1st Team All-State award.” How does she follow up earning an All-State award? She climbs up the State Rankings in one of the most star-studded grad classes in the state of Texas. The Ohio State commit is going to wow the Big Ten when she steps foot on campus, but we will love covering her in the meantime. Please help us congratulate her on moving up the rankings.
Hannah Gonzalez Hannah Gonzalez 6'3" | MB Lovejoy | 2023 State #170 Nation TX [2023] 6-3 Middle (HS: Lovejoy/Club: Madfrog /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Hannah has just moved up in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is now ranked as the 23rd best player in Texas. Miss Gonzalez plays at Lovejoy HS and also club for national powerhouse Madfrog . We profiled her in our last rankings update when we added her and here is what we stated, “The super middle has been acknowledged as one of the best in her age group by numerous publications. She has been a part of Lovejoy’s back-to-back UIL 5A State Championships and is one of the big reasons why they have a shot to three-peat this year. She burst onto the scene as a freshman and was one of the kill leaders on her varsity squad right away. She has not stopped since and is a wrecking ball to opponent’s game plan. She is on every college coach’s radar and will have her pick of the litter soon. We are extremely excited to cover her and think she has such a high ceiling to improve and move up the rankings. Please congratulate her on being part of the Prep Dig State Rankings.” When we watched her in the UIL State Championship match she was dominant. She was pivotal in helping Lovejoy claim their third straight State Title. She is a true power middle who can change a game on both ends. Her Madfrog club is dominant again this year and she is a huge reason why. We will be covering them soon so stay tuned for more on Hannah. Please congratulate her on the special achievement of moving up the rankings.
Ariana Brown Ariana Brown 5'11" | OH Conroe | 2023 State TX [2023] 5-11 Outside (HS: Klein/Club: Willowbrook/Verbal: Uncommitted)
She has done it again! Miss Brown has moved up in the rankings to now become the 31st best prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. In our last update when we first introduced her as a State Ranked player we stated, “Miss Brown earned Newcomer of the District last season as a freshman and she followed it up with a great showing this season including a 12 kill, 11 dig and two block performance in the UIL 6A State Championship match a few weeks ago. She plays club ball for Willowbrook out of the north Houston area. Ariana is a heavy powerful attacker with an arm that brings the heat on the pins according to her high school coach. I’ve watched her play and she’s right. This kid has an absolute cannon on the left side. Klein is losing a few top tier seniors but is reloading with Miss Brown at the helm. She is primed to take over for the next few years. We think she can be a big star and we will be watching very closely on her progress on the court. She will undoubtedly move up the rankings in the future if she keeps up the hard work. Stay tuned to see the fireworks from her this club season. We are super excited about her ceiling as she can be one of the most explosive players in the age group if she stays on the course that she is currently on. Her Willowbrook coaches are excited about her and so are we. She had a breakout season at Klein this past year. She rose up to a leading role and had 336 kills on 789 attempts and hit a very impressive .264 as a sophomore as Klein went on a tear toward the UIL 6A State Title match. With graduation, Klein will be looking forward to Ariana leading the charge to avenge the second place finish from last season. Her star is on the rise and we know she will answer that bell once the first whistle blows during her junior season.” Her star is still rising and we are so happy with what we see in her progression in the outside position. She is bigger and stronger and playing higher than ever. The Most Outstanding hitter of her district this past season is not stopping anytime soon. Coaches who want a dynamic point scorer should look no further. We will keep our eye on her as she continues to dominate. Please congratulate her on moving up the rankings.
