The Mid Atlantic club teams are getting ready for their first power league tournament at Hampton VA. MAPL is where top elite clubs in Northern Virginia go to compete. Most of those players know each other very well, which makes the level of the competition very high. The format of this tournament is different than a classic tournament. There are three waves: Black (16-18), Blue (14-16), and Red (13-14). If you are attending this tournament, look for the following athletes to watch.

Erin Debiec - 6’0 - Setter - Metro 16 Travel

Erin has all the qualities to be one of the best setters. Her athleticism, skills, and size allow her to be ready to play at a high level. Her setting IQ is high and she has the ability to manage the game during difficult moments. She is dangerous when she is in the front row, either with her blocking skills or running a fast-paced offense. When you go to her court, you will notice her immediately.

Madison Koeller - 5’11 - Setter - Virginia Elite 17

Madison is the full package. She is known for running a quick offensive tempo and is extremely aggressive at the net. An active setter, she will dump it in whether in front or back row. Madison is a true leader because she is always commanding her court. She is hands down one of the hardest workers, always pushing and making everyone around her better.

Evelyn Jurden - 6’1 - Setter/Opposite - Virginia Elite 15

Evelyn is one of the upcoming players in Northern Virginia. She is an athletic setter who can quickly move to the ball and has the ability to make effective offensive decisions. You can also find Evelyn hitting when she is in the front row. She has a heavy arm and is very fun to watch when she hits above the block.

Shylah Swope - 5’9 - Setter / Opposite - Virginia Elite 15

Shylah is a balanced setter/hitter. She is very proficient in attacking, passing, and defending. In terms of her setting skills, she places a focus on the consistent tempo of her sets to ensure an effective offense. She is constantly working to improve upon each practice and tournament and is so much fun to watch. She is like a butterfly on the court.

Madison Bowser - 6’1 - Middle Blocker - Metro 16 Travel

Madison is one the upcoming middles who is going to make some noise. She is one the most improved players I have witnessed. Since last season, her game has changed tremendously. She is very athletic, which makes her lateral movements from pin to pin easy. She is one of the best middles who close the block. She has a high ceiling to continue growing and improving her game.

Nina Parker - 6’0 - Outside Hitter - Virginia Elite 17

Nina is a 6 rotation Outside. She is versatile and can perform on either pin. Nina has an extremely high volleyball IQ and knows when it’s time for a shot or when to pack the heat. She is offensive from the front and back court and can play any role defensively. On her team, Nina is go-to when the team is in trouble. No matter the ball given to her, she always makes it better.

Macaria Spears - 6’3 - Outside Hitter - Metro 16 Travel

Macaria Spears is the freshman who causes a lot of trouble to the teams she played against. The VISAA Player of The Year has a lot to offer and we will see her in one of the top volleyball collegiate programs in the nation, Macaria is a complete player at her young age, with an ability to hit from anywhere in the court. This gives her team a chance to win. Not surprisingly, she is the go to player that the setter will look for when the team is in trouble. She is mature and is not afraid of hitting the ball, no matter what the situation is. I’m sure the court where she will be playing is going to be full. Make sure you go early and get your seat.

Ana Toumazatos - 6’0 - Outside Hitter - Virginia Elite 15

Ana is one of the key players on VAE’s 15s team. Switching from middle to an outside hitter has given a lot of versatility to her team this year. She is the type of player who operates in the most crucial moments with poise and a fearless attitude. Her coach describes her as a selfless teammate who inspires others around her to elevate their play. The team can depend on her during tough moments to make the play.

More Players to Keep Your Eye On

[player_tooltip player_id="111456" first="Lauryn" last="Payne"] - 6’0 - Outside Hitter - Paramount VBC 18

Madigan Faircloth - 5’5 - Libero - Paramount VBC 18

Kennedy Seekford - 5’5 - Libero - Virginia Elite 17

Chloe Hokenson - 6’1 - Setter - Virginia Elite 16

Elle Jubeck - 5’7 - Libero - Virginia Elite 16

Emmerson Sellman - 6’3 - Outside Hitter - Metro 16 Travel

Mimi Mambu - 5’11 - Outside Hitter - Paramount VBC 16

Kiylah Presley - 6’0 - Middle Blocker - Paramount VBC 16

Paige Ahakuelo - 5’6 - Setter - Paramount VBC 16

Emma White - Libero - Blue Ridge 16 Blue

Madison LaRue - Outside Hitter - Blue Ridge 16 Blue

Ada McCoy - Outside Hitter - Blue Ridge 15 Blue

Brianna Holladay - 6’0 - Middle Blocker - Paramount VBC 15

Kadi Pynchon - 5’6 - Libero - Virginia Elie 15
