The 18s and 16s age groups gathered this past Saturday and Sunday for Tournament 1 at the CLAVA facility in Lake Forest. We were able to make it there for Day 1 action and witnessed both age groups go at it. Below, we mention six middles who caught our eye and why.
Payton George, Sr MB, SG Elite 18 Rosh – There weren’t a lot of sets coming her way but when she did get an opportunity George made the most of it. She wasn’t afraid to take a solid rip and let loose a few balls while remaining active in making herself available.
MacKenzie Parsons MacKenzie Parsons 6'2" | MB Poway | 2024 State #189 Nation CA , Soph MB, Coast 16-1 – Parsons is part of a good middle duo for Coast. She puts up a strong block with good reads. And she can score when her number is called.
Hayley Ogden, Soph MB, Coast 16-1 – Ogden is the other part of the Coast middle duo that makes it tough on opponents. She has a nice swing and Coast will run her on the slide as well.
Jenna Hanes Jenna Hanes 6'3" | MB Cathedral Catholic | 2024 State #76 Nation CA , Soph MB, Wave 16 Brennan – At 6-2, Hanes brings size in the middle and is an emerging talent. She carries a whippy arm swing and moves well in the middle.
Reilly Owens, Soph MB, Surfside 16 MB Legends – Owens works in the middle, as she is active on both sides of the ball. She was able to get some nice touches on attacks. She’s also capable of scoring off the slide on offense.
Elon Milroy, Soph MB, Tstreet 16 Carson – A physical presence in the middle, Tstreet looks to get Milroy the ball when she checks in. She carries a heavy swing and hits hard. She also showed some skill in making some digs in the back row when she was serving.
