The Premier Volleyball League out of Southern California debuted last season and is back for its second run in 2022. The 18s and 16s age groups gathered Saturday and Sunday for Tournament 1 at the CLAVA facility in Lake Forest. We were able to make it there for Day 1 action and witnessed both age groups go at it. Check out these eight setters who caught our eye and why.

[player_tooltip player_id="160021" first="Brooklyn" last="Burns"], Sr S, Wave 18 Kevin – Burns brings height to the position and that helps her in the front row with her blocking. She’s also does a decent job of moving the ball around and trying to get her hitters favorable looks.

[player_tooltip player_id="160012" first="Faith" last="Tyson"], Sr S, Coast 18-1 – Signed with Villanova, Tyson is a steadying presence on the court. She has a calm demeanor and knows how to ride the hot hand.

Meghan Lynch, Sr S, SG Elite 18 Rosh – At times, SG Elite was using Lynch to set a few rotations as well as fill in as a back row defender. She did a good job putting the ball in hittable spots and her versatility is something many teams could use.

[player_tooltip player_id="159993" first="Sienna" last="Noordermeer"], Sr S, SG Elite 18 Rosh -- We wrote about Noordermeer as part of Class of 2022 Players to Watch and while she played up to her normal great level we mention her for another reason. The Northwestern signee recently held a serve-a-thon fundraiser to benefit the Special Olympics. The event was an overwhelming success as she raised $14,580!

[player_tooltip player_id="162783" first="Taylor" last="Yu"], Soph S/RS, SG Elite 16 Rosh – Yu is arguably the best setter in her class in the region and showed why. She has an extremely smooth and accurate delivery and doesn’t always need a perfect pass to get the ball to where she wants to. She also happens to be one of the team’s top hitters and hit across the front row.

[player_tooltip player_id="162772" first="Charlie" last="Fuerbringer"], Soph S/RS, Mizuno Long Beach 16 Rockstar – Fuerbringer is the glue player for Long Beach. She sets in the back row and is can run tempo sets that helps the hitters get good looks before the block can fully get there. She’s also a versatile hitter across the front row to help on the offensive side.

Hayden Lin, Soph S, SCVC 16 Roxy – Lin has a good touch at the setting position. She delivers a consistent ball with good location that allows her hitters to do their thing.

[player_tooltip player_id="162780" first="Amanda" last="Saeger"], Soph S, Wave 16 Brennan – Saeger is steady and doesn’t try to overdo it. She puts up a consistent ball and with Wave having good attackers in the middle looks to get them going.
