Top 18s/16s Outsides From PVL Tournament 1 (Part 2)

<p>The Premier Volleyball League out of Southern California debuted last season and is back for its second run in 2022. The 18s and 16s age groups gathered Saturday and Sunday for Tournament 1 at the CLAVA facility in Lake Forest. We were able to make it there for Day 1 action and witnessed both age groups go at it, though we focused more on the 16s. Below, we write about six more outside hitters who caught our eye and why.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="161758" first="Charlee" last="Ellena"], Soph OH, Wave 16 Brennan</strong> – Ellena seems to play taller than she is, though she’s listed at 5-11. She’s a strong attacker who gets after it with a smooth swing. It makes her a big part of Wave’s offense.</p> <p><strong>Kendall Beshear, Soph OH, SCVC 16 Roxy</strong> – Beshear is obviously part of the offensive package playing outside. However, she excels in back row coverage. She’s a scrappy defender willing to hit the floor to keep the ball alive.</p> <p><strong>Rilee Graham, Soph OH, Surfside 16 MB Legends</strong> – It’s hard to get a ball past or down on Graham with the way she plays back row defense. She’s all over the place with her digging and even made a nice one-arm save to keep a rally going.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="159533" first="Isabel" last="Clark"], Soph OH, Momentous 16 Dan</strong> – Opposing defenses need to pay attention to Clark, as Momentous is going to set her often. She’s a steady attacker who can swing it from the front or back row and has good poise.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="159957" first="Sophia" last="Reavis"], Sr OH, Tstreet 18 Madi/Liz</strong> – Tstreet relied on this UC Santa Barbara commit in many ways. Among them is her ability to be a key part of serve receive. She’s also gets set plenty on the outside, where she shows good length and extension on her swings.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="163280" first="Grace" last="Thrower"], Jr OH, Sunshine 18 Westside</strong> – Thrower is part of Sunshine’s 17 roster but was playing up with the 18s due to roster needs over the weekend. She more than held her own. She was one of Sunshine’s go-to attackers and with nice size and length showed a variety of shots to attack the defense with.</p>
