Madison Lansdown- A class of 2024 athlete from MidTN 15 Black’s squad, Madison Lansdown showed out in this tournament. She helped her squad with a 2nd place finish and contributed in the front and back row. Lansdown is a fun player to watch because of her versatility to do it all. She’s crafty and smart in the front row and hits a hard back row attack out of the pipe. Lansdown’s defense is spot on too with her gifted athleticism and ability to touch any ball close to her.
Ava Dumont- A 5’10 outside hitter from Alliance, Ava Dumont was the go-to for her 16-1 REN team. Dumont can hit from anywhere on the court and find a way to get a kill with power. What’s most impressive is her quick transition, so she can effortlessly approach into that ball and give herself room to effectively swing. Dumont has a knack for always finding some court to work with and taking advantage of the open seams in the block. She proved to be one of the best as she helped her squad to a 1st place finish in this tournament! Dumont is a baller on the court and a nice, genuine young lady off the court. Watch out for this class of 2024 stud!
Skye Graham- From Tsunami Volleyball Club in Forest Park, GA, Skye Graham had to be one of my favorite outside hitters to watch in this tournament. The athleticism this kid has just to jump and move as a 16 year old is truly outstanding. She’s really great about having a powerful approach and swinging those arms, so she’s at her highest point of contact. From there, I’d tell the defense to beware. Graham has a toolbox of shots she can hit whether it’s crushing it down line, swinging cross court, or tooling the hands on the block. Plus, she’s an all around player, so you have to make sure to watch out for her in the back row too. She may only be 5’9, but don’t let it fool you! This kid is a true stud!
Allison Young- Playing for A5 Mizuno 16-Stephen, Allison Young caused some issues for her opponents defensively. Her competitive nature and flat out ability to do it all sets her apart from other outside hitters. Young reminds me of that “gym rat” kid that knows in the ins and outs of volleyball. In a singular set, I watched her bury one in the deep cross, tip to the middle of the court, and then follow it up with a thumb up shot down the line. She’s only 16 years old and making these kind of plays! Young’s mentality to play smart in the front row and stay solid passing wise in the back row will definitely take her far in the game.
