Continue ReadingWe have been watching the 2022 class very closely throughout the entire high school season and used the data of wins and losses, stats, district finishes, awards, in person tournaments, matches and of course the amazing footage that has been uploaded to everyone’s recruiting profiles. Texas volleyball is second to none and the senior class left it all out on the court through some serious play. We have been talking to a lot of coaches across the country and this class is littered with college prospects. The following players showed us all that they deserved to be moved up the rankings.
Harmony Sample Harmony Sample 5'11" | S Hebron | 2022 State #50 Nation TX [2022] 5-11 Setter (HS: Hebron/Club: Texas Advantage/Verbal: Notre Dame)
Harmony has moved up the 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings. We now have her listed as the 21st best overall prospect and 5th best setter in the state. Miss Sample has been on our radar as a player to watch for a while and we needed a little more time to place her in the list. She is a super setter who has been rocking it for a while now. She plays for Hebron High School and also club for TAV. We were able to watch her in person at the GJNC in Vegas this summer and were very impressed with what we saw. The Notre Dame commit has been recognized by many publications over the years for her stellar play. She is a dual threat as she can dish the ball with the best of them and also attack on the pins at a high level. She is extremely athletic and very quick to track the ball down. The lengthy setter always keeps teams off-balance when she jump sets in the front row due to her size and ability to go over on two. We will be covering her senior season closely as her Hebron team is looking very good this year. We are excited to welcome her to the Prep Dig Rankings.” She has done nothing but improve every single time she has stepped on the court. She has been recognized by every volleyball publication as being one of the best in the nation and we could not agree more. This is why we have chosen to move her up our state rankings. Please congratulate her on the achievement.
Avery Shimaitis Avery Shimaitis 5'11" | OH George Ranch | 2022 State #142 Nation TX [2022] 5-11 Outside (HS: George Ranch/Club: Houston Skyline/Signed: Pepperdine)
Avery just made one of the largest jumps in the rankings. She went from bring the 50th to the 38th best overall prospect according to the Prep Dig State Rankings list. We have profiled her a few times and here is a little from the articles, “She is a part of the famed ten foot club as she can get up to 10’2”. Avery is a dominant attacker for her Skyline team and for the Longhorns. She can bang with the best hitters in the area. Avery is a six rotation outside hitter and excels on the court. Her strength is undoubtedly her power. Her upper body is built for the left side. She will be a force for the foreseeable future for a college team. She deserves to be looked at and put on someone’s short list. She’s able to run high powered offense from the back row and she has this awesome and deceptive across her body off-speed cut back shot toward the deep zone one corner from the left side that she scores with. It is extremely deceptive and scores well. She will definitely keep the firepower going this coming year for the George Ranch Longhorns. She plays for one of the best club teams in her age group in the nation and when you watch her play, you will see why. We are happy to report that she has just recently committed to Pepperdine University. We are excited to watch her grow and get better so she can have an immediate impact in college. Some athletes let up a little once they reach the pinnacle of their high school years when they finally verbally commit to a college. Not Avery…she has turned the volume button way up and is killing it during her senior season. No one has been able to stop her as she is leading her team in kills. The season is only half way complete and she has already surpassed last years totals in kills. She is leading the entire state in kills during her senior season regardless of size of school. She already has 608 kills and the season isn’t even done yet. This young lady has doubled her kill total from all of last year and the best part is how efficient she has been doing it. She has a .328 hitting efficiency against some great competition. She is just flat out the best hitter in the entire state right now. We saw Miss Shimaitis carve up her competition all year long as she had one of the most productive offensive seasons in her grad class. It was a fantastic way to end her high school career. We are proud to announce that she is the recipient of our publication’s inaugural 1st Team All-State award.” This season she really stepped up her game and showed the nation just how good she actually is. This will really help her when she steps on the court for Pepperdine. In the meantime, please help us congratulate her on moving up the rankings.
Emily Canaan Emily Canaan 5'8" | DS/L Allen | 2022 State #48 Nation TX [2022] 5-8 Libero (HS: Allen/Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: Florida)
Emily has moved up in the 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings. We now have her listed as the 37nd best overall prospect and 3rd best libero in the state. She plays for Allen High School and also for a great club program in Dallas Skyline. We profiled her in our last update to the rankings when we added her and here is a little refresher of what we stated, “Emily recently committed to play volleyball in the SEC at the University of Florida. Her serve receive is stellar and she always keeps her team’s offense in-system. Miss Canaan is also a great defensive player and she showed us with her play that she deserved to be on our State Rankings as we watched her team compete this summer at USA Junior Nationals. I love her footwork and court awareness as she was always in a great position to make a play for her team. Her great defensive range is showcased often as not many balls fall when they are attacked close to her zone. Please welcome her to the State Rankings and congratulate her on this great achievement.” Emily is one of the best liberos in the nation and that is why Mary Wise and Florida came calling. They will shore up their defensive efforts with Emily for sure. She is fantastic in the back row and will prove it to the nation soon. Please help us congratulate her on moving up the state rankings.
