The event featured 77 club teams across its three divisions and they competed in three different venues in the area. Our destination was the FAST Complex, where 32 of the 44 teams from the 16s division hit the court on Saturday.
We’ll highlight the top prospects we spotted in the tournament over the course of the week and now it’s time to learn who were the outside hitters who caught our eye:
Kennedy Jones – Texas Tornados 16 Adidas – HS: Langham Creek – 2024
An extremely athletic player, Kennedy Jones was Texas Tornados 16 Adidas’ go-to scoring option in the tournament. Her excellent leaping ability and her impressive hangtime make of the 5’10” outside hitter a very difficult player to deal with. Jones can find some great angles from the left and also uses her power extremely well to tool the block when in a difficult situation. She has the confidence and the skills to put the ball down in the deciding moments of the match and is also very solid on the backcourt. Jones tallied some huge numbers in the last high school season with Langham Creek, registering 423 kills, 38 aces, 42 blocks, 440 digs and 510 passes. She started her career playing middle and can also help there if needed.
Carrington Cook Carrington Cook 5'11" | OH Ridge Point | 2024 State TX – HJV 16 Premier – HS: Ridge Point – 2024
Carrington Cook Carrington Cook 5'11" | OH Ridge Point | 2024 State TX stands out for her great all-around game. Also an excellent beach player, she dominates every aspect of the game and helps her teams in a variety of ways on the court. A 5’11” outside hitter, she’s very physical, combining a very interesting ability to jump with a heavy arm. Cook has great power, but also knows when and how to score with finesse and is capable of putting the ball on the floor from the left, right, or even the backcourt. Although her defensive game is also solid, she got notoriety for her offense during the last high school season, producing 108 kills for a loaded Ridge Point that made it to the State Tournament.
Addison Moss – Texas United 16 Red – HS: Dawson – 2024
Addison Moss was Texas United 16 Red’s most important player in the tournament and her behavior on the court indicated she not only knew that, but handled the responsibility really well. Another player who splits time between the hardwood and the sand, the 5’9” Moss is an excellent two-way player. She’s very solid and reliable on defense and extremely effective at the net, with an intelligent game that’s built upon hitting around the block as much as possible. Moss is also very versatile, being able to play on the right or even setting as well. She barely cracked into the varsity roster of her high school team Dawson this past high season but should have a much larger role in 2022.
