With a pair of huge tournaments coming up next week in the Lone Star Classic and the ATX Showcase, we decided to take a different route this time and focus on an event that didn’t reunite any of the major clubs of the Houston area in order to spot some potential under-the-radar prospects in smaller club teams.
The Houston Force #3 was played in two locations – the Faith West Academy and the Skyline Academy – in the Katy area and featured two divisions – 17s and 18s. We got to watch each of the 16 teams of the 17s Division on the court on Saturday and found some interesting prospects to highlight.
We’ve been doing it over the course of the week and today we’ll present some of the most complete and efficient outside hitters in the event.
Houston Force #3 Standouts
Katelynn Holloway – TX Legacy 17 Black – HS: Woodlands Christian Academy – 2023
A high-energy outside hitter, Katelynn Holloway has a lot of intensity on her game. She might not be the tallest hitter out there at 5’6” but the kid can jump and hits the ball with her arm fully extended, further increasing her contact point. Holloway is very explosive and can get very difficult to stop when she gets in rhythm offensively because of her excellent variation. Her backcourt game is also solid, which allows her to be used as a defensive specialist as well.
Mallory Lamport – Texas Twisters 17 Royal – HS: Morton Ranch – 2022
We’ve covered Mallory Lamport and it seems her game just keeps getting better. Lamport has always stood out for her versatility and all-around game but it seems that she added an interesting level of power to her offense as well. The 5’7” outside hitter does a great job in tooling the block when she’s in a difficult situation and works really hard on the court. She just finished her senior high school season with Morton Ranch with 271 kills, 53 aces, 43 aces, 208 digs and 139 passes.

Kenadi Hall – Texas Hurricane CAT 5 – HS: Clear Lake – 2023
A very complete outside hitter who excels on the backcourt, Kenadi Hall helped Texas Hurricane CAT 5 remain in rhythm during the tournament. She has her defensive game as her bread and butter and is coming from a high school season in which she registered 281 digs and 393 passes for Clear Lake. But her offense is also very efficient as Hall uses her reach extremely well to either hit around the block or tool it.
Madalena Rodriguez – TX Vision 17
Madalena Rodriguez was a key player in a TX Vision 17 team that surprised by winning three of their four matches over the day. She showed an excellent offensive game, predicated on her superior physical tools and her ability to score from any of the three positions at the net. One area of improvement for her game would be her backcourt skills.
