That made of the AAU Houston Grand Prix an excellent place to watch and spot some of the most talented, under-the-radar prospects in the region. The two-day event featured seven age divisions and nearly 170 teams competing in three different venues in the area.
We decided to focus on the 15s and spent Saturday afternoon at the Texas Tornados club, in Cypress, where 22 of the 30 teams in the division were in action. We’ve been highlighting the most impressive players we spotted during the day over the week, and the final article about the event was reserved for some players who have great size and excellent potential.
Hailey Barlow – Middle Blocker – Elevate 15 Blue – HS: Allen – 2025
A towering middle blocker from the Elevate Volleyball Club from the Dallas area, Hailey Barlow has tremendous potential based on her size alone. She stands well over six feet and is surprisingly quick and coordinated. Barlow has long arms and big hands and setups big blocks in front of opponents. Her offensive reach is ridiculous and when this kid adds more firepower to her game, she’ll be absolutely unstoppable. She’s very active at the net and wins most 50/50 balls. She didn’t start playing volleyball until a couple of years ago and will only get better.

Elizabeth Adamek – Outside Hitter – HJV 15 Molten – 2025
With Elizabeth Adamek, it’s not only about size, but also athleticism. A tall outside hitter, the HJV 15 Molten prospect also has a lot of strength on her lower body. She jumps really well and can absolutely hammer the ball at the pin. Adamek is a six-rotation outside hitter and does very well on the backcourt too, with solid passing and digging skills.
Annika Brooks – Middle Blocker – TEXSTAR 15 – HS: Sacred Heart – 2025
It’s impossible not to feel Annika Brooks’ presence at the net. She stands at 6’2” and is also physically strong and has long arms and legs. Also a swimming student-athlete, Brooks has good reach when hitting the ball, but would benefit from adding some power to it. She’s good enough to make an impact on games and has even made it to the All-District Second Team with her high school Sacred Heart, but would take her game to another level with some improvement on her footwork.
