That made of the AAU Houston Grand Prix an excellent place to watch and spot some of the most talented, under-the-radar prospects in the region. The two-day event featured seven age divisions and nearly 170 teams competing in three different venues in the area.
We decided to focus on the 15s and spent Saturday afternoon at the Texas Tornados club, in Cypress, where 22 of the 30 teams in the division were in action. We’re highlighting the most impressive players we spotted during the day over the week, and this time we’ll focus on the outside hitters that caught our eye.
Hailey Dickey – Texas Tornados 15 Adidas – HS: Bridgeland – 2025
Hailey Dickey was one of the pillars of a solid Texas Tornados 15 Adidas team that only fell to division winners Woodlands Revolution 15 Premier last weekend. Dickey is an extremely technical player, who thrives on her passing and defensive skills. Despite standing at 5’7”, she also has some impressive power at the net, being able to score from the right as well. She didn’t make it to varsity in a loaded Bridgeland roster that took the school to its first State Tournament last season, but is on pace to change it after she was captain and MVP in the Bears’ freshman A team.
Isabelle Gudino – HJV 15 Molten – 2025
Isabelle Gudino is another pin hitter whose game stands out more for her excellent skills than her physicality. She’s also 5’7”, but is extremely intelligent at the net and capable of scoring points in even the most unlikely situations. Gudino thrives by hitting around the block as much as possible and, when there’s no way to do it, she’ll just find an open spot on the court to place the ball at. She’s also a tremendous asset on the backcourt with a very dangerous floater and outstanding defensive skills.
Delainey Calvert – SOCO 15-1 – 2025
Delainey Calvert was the player who stood out the most in her SOCO 15-1 team. A very complete outside hitter, she brought a lot of firepower to the team at the net while also being extremely helpful on the backcourt. Her offense is hands down the most interesting part of her game and Calvert has a lightning-quick right arm and can score from the left, right and even the middle, when in combination plays.
