Several teams from the state of Washington will make the trip down to Nevada in the upcoming President’s Day weekend to compete in the prestigious 36th Annual Las Vegas Classic.

The gigantic tournament will feature more than 800 teams in its ten divisions, with matches being played in the luxurious and imponent Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

The Evergreen State will be represented in several different divisions as the tournament quickly approaches, we’ll highlight some of the teams that will compete in the 18 Open division.

Renovators 18-Allen

The team from the Renovators Volleyball Club is among the absolute best in Eastern Washington and has finished third in the Matt Hartner Memorial Classic last month in Oregon. 18 Allen remains undefeated in the Northwest Power League and holds an 11-1 win record so far in the season.

Players to Watch

[player_tooltip player_id="97160" first="Teila" last="Allen"] – Outside Hitter – HS: Mt. Spokane – 2022

One of the most well-known players in the Spokane area, [player_tooltip player_id="97160" first="Teila" last="Allen"] has been a stud for Mt. Spokane during the last high school seasons. A 5’10” outside hitter with a very complete game, she’s an asset both at the net and on the backcourt and has been a difference-maker for several years now. Allen is very aggressive when on offense and is hard to stop because of her diversified and unpredictable game. She helped her high school team finish fifth in the last season and was selected to the Washington Coaches Association All-State first team.

Danikah Johnson – Middle Blocker – HS: Mead – 2023

Very tall and long, Danikah Johnson has an excellent presence at the net. She stands at 6’1” and uses her long arms extremely well to dominate the ball on both sides of the game. Johnson has a well-developed offensive game and can hit either really quick sets or more up and down ones, while also being able to play as a right sider. Her block is also a problem for opponents as she has good reach and penetrates well at the net. A state champion with Mead, she made it to the Washington Coaches Association All-State second team after registering 169 kills and 122 blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id="97164" first="Emily" last="Hutchinson"] – Middle Blocker – Mead – 2022

Renovators 18-Allen’s middle blocker duo can go up against any other in Washington as in [player_tooltip player_id="97164" first="Emily" last="Hutchinson"] they also have a state champion and elite player. Also a 6’1”, Hutchinson is very well-versed on offense while also a capable blocker. Also a track and field student-athlete, she’s got a really strong lower body and can hit from the left as well. She’s also a vocal leader for her teams and all these attributes (and her 198 kills, 60 blocks and 26 aces) have taken her to the Washington Coaches Association All-State first team last season.
