The gigantic tournament will feature more than 800 teams in its ten divisions, with matches being played in the luxurious and imponent Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
The Evergreen State will be represented in several different divisions as the tournament quickly approaches, we’ll highlight some of the teams that will compete in the 18 Open division.
SIVBC 18 Tsunami
The team from the Sudden Impact Volleyball Club out of Bellevue has had ups and downs this season, having registered seven wins and seven losses so far. They were third in an early round of the Puget Sound Region Power League but had to settle for 19th in the Winter Volleyball Championship in Illinois.

Alana Castaneda Alana Castaneda 5'10" | OH Woodenville | 2022 WA – Right Sider/Outside Hitter – HS: Woodinville – 2022
Capable of playing at both pins, Alana Castaneda Alana Castaneda 5'10" | OH Woodenville | 2022 WA excels when placed on the right, where she can explore her offensive potential the most. She stands at 5’10” and jumps very well, making contact with the ball at a very high point. Castaneda does an excellent job of always hitting the ball in front of her body, adding another layer of power to her hits. She has a lot of options when hitting from the right and does a great job of avoiding the opposing block.
Diya Mishra – Middle Blocker – HS: Overlake – 2022
Diya Mishra makes a great impact in games with her athleticism at the net. The middle blocker is 5’11” but gets to add a few inches to her wingspan thanks to her long and strong arms. She has great footwork, which helps her when blocking and on making herself available on offense when in transition, and has a very quick arm when hitting the ball. Mishra is coming from a highly-productive high school season with Overlake in which she showed that besides dominating the net with 257 kills and 58 blocks, she is also talented enough to make an impact on the backcourt with 104 digs, 146 passes and 52 aces and was awarded as the Washington Coaches Association Player of the Year.
Maiya Gonzalez – Libero – HS: Seattle Academy – 2022
A dynamic defensive player, Maiya Gonzalez takes great care of SIVBC 18 Tsunami’s backcourt. A pinpoint passer and an excellent defender, the 5’3” prospect does everything in her power to keep the ball away from the floor while also coordinating the team’s defensive strategy. Very fast and technical, she excels in her ball control. Gonzalez has made it to the Washington Coaches Association All-State team as an honorable mention last season.
