This year’s location for the 18s tournament, which served as a qualifier for the 2022 USAV Girls 18s Junior National Championship, was the Austin Convention Center and it attracted as many as 178 teams, including several from other states, across its four divisions.
The teams from the Lone Star State were among the top performers in the tournament, finishing first in all four divisions, and over the next days, we’ll honor their campaigns, featuring the top two finishers of each division in specific articles.
In today’s article, we’ll present the second-placed team of the 18 USA division:
Woodlands Revolution 18 Premier
The team representing the Woodlands Revolution Volleyball Club out of The Woodlands, just north of Houston, went undefeated and with a single set dropped all the way to the golden bracket final, where it lost to eventual champions Texas Pistols 18 Black in the three-set final. Revolution 18 Premier ended the tournament with a notable 7-1 win record.

A six-footer with the skills and intelligence to operate as a setter and the size and power to cause damage as a hitter, Ava Derbes Ava Derbes 6'0" | S A&M Consolidated | 2022 State TX is any coach’s dream with her versatility. Splitting her time and energy between setting and hitting duties at both the club and high school levels has certainly not negatively affected Derbes, who still find ways to be an elite defender – she produced 460 kills, 47 aces, 59 blocks, 373 digs, 582 assists and 160 passes in her last high school campaign with A&M Consolidated. Ranked 94th in our 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings, she has committed to Tulane University.
Keira Herron Keira Herron 5'9" | DS/L College Station | 2022 State TX – Libero – HS: College Station – 2022
Keira Herron Keira Herron 5'9" | DS/L College Station | 2022 State TX ’s high productivity as a libero is due to a combination of two essential elements to success in any area – talent and discipline. The 5’8” defender is clearly excellent when it comes to her technique, both when in touch with the ball or when finding the best positioning to do so. She’s also very disciplined and aware of her role on her teams, being always where she’s supposed to be and not allowing any points for a lack of attention. Herron had a stellar senior season with College Station, amassing 642 digs, 673 passes and 84 aces and committed to Oregon State. She ranks 128th in our 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings.
Reagan Whatley – Outside Hitter – HS: The Woodlands – 2022
A 5’11” outside hitter who is extremely productive at the net but also capable of holding her own when at the backcourt, Reagan Whatley is an important piece in Woodlands Revolution 18 Premier’s playing system. An excellent jumper, she does a great job with her shot selection and is rarely blocked. Sometimes it feels like Whatley stops in the air and looks at the block before deciding what to do. A Trinity University commit, she produced 426 kills, 58 blocks, 135 digs and 222 passes in her last high school with The Woodlands.
