This year’s location for the 18s tournament, which served as a qualifier for the 2022 USAV Girls 18s Junior National Championship, was the Austin Convention Center and it attracted as many as 178 teams, including several from other states, across its four divisions.
The teams from the Lone Star State were among the top performers in the tournament, finishing first in all four divisions, and over the next days, we’ll honor their campaigns, featuring the top two finishers of each division in specific articles.
It’s time we know more about the team that topped the 18 Liberty division:
Flyers 18 APX-G
The team representing the Frisco Flyers Volleyball Club reigned supreme in the 18 Liberty division, finishing at the top of the standings. Flyers 18 APX-G had an upset in their second match in the tournament but then won six in a row to end their campaign with a 7-1 win record.

Key Players
Kaitlyn Noel – Libero – HS: Frisco Memorial – 2022
Kaitlyn ‘Katie’ Noel does a fantastic job in the team’s backcourt. The 5’8” defender gets as many digs as anyone and is extremely reliable with her passing too. Noel benefits from her great positioning and is also very agile to react and get to hard-driven hits or tips. With her excellent ball control, it’s rare to see a play in which she gets to the ball, but can’t dig it. Noel, who’s also an intelligent and efficient server, is coming from an excellent high school season with Frisco Memorial, where she produced 480 digs, 626 passes and 23 aces.
Alexandra Bonnett – Outside Hitter – HS: Centennial – 2022
A six-footer, Alexandra Bonnett adds some firepower to Flyers 18 APX-G at the net while also contributing on the backcourt. She has a well-polished and very efficient game at the net, which combines good power and reach with great reading of the game and the ability to tool the block. She’s also a reliable passer and defender. Bonnett had to deal with some injuries and health issues during the first half of her high school career but has left them in the past to become a key player for her Centennial team, having tallied 318 kills, 19 aces, 39 blocks, 168 digs and 271 passes this past season.
Lexi Godbey – Setter/Right Sider – HS: Marcus – 2022
A new addition to Frisco Flyers coming from Excel, Lexi Godbey has spent some years playing as a setter for her high school Marcus and at the pin for her club teams. This season she’s been able to put it all together appearing as a right sider for Flyers 18 APX-G, a position in which she can fully explore her excellent technical skills and her 5’10” frame. When at the net, she’s a powerful hitter who also knows how to score with finesse and is a very good blocker. When at the back, she does a great job in setting her teammates up with solid locations and smart distribution. Godbey was a key piece in a strong Marcus team in the last high school season, contributing with 649 assists, 49 aces and 221 digs.
