Continue ReadingClub volleyball teams from the state of Washington will have their best opportunity to qualify for this year’s USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship in the next two weekends, when the Spokane area hosts the Pacific Northwest Qualifier.
The event will be played across four venues in the region and will reunite teams competing in 28 different divisions in eight age groups. In the days leading up to the first weekend of competition, we’ll preview each age group from 15s to 18s, highlighting the teams of Washington that will compete in the tournament.
All four 16s divisions will be on the court from March 26-28 and 41 different teams will be representing the Evergreen State on them.
16 American (13)
One of the 13 teams competing in the division, Dakine Warriors 16 Ohana has a talented setter in Savannah Fisher, a reliable libero in Sydnee Hertzog and a promising right side in Keira Leingang. Another interesting team to watch is ITVC 16 Baden, which features up-and-coming talent in setter Anna Schulz, outside hitter Jiali Goodwin and libero Kyra Yoshimura.
Apex NW U16 Summit, Aspire NW 16-2 Royal, Aspire NW 16-3 Power, Capital Ice 16’s’, CPA 16-2, CRU U16 Baden, Dakine Warriors 16 Lohaki, Excel NW 16-2 Gold, PJVBC 16 Diana, Rainier U16 Summit – Alex and Yakima Elite 16-1 are the other Washingtonians entered.
16 Liberty (12)
This division has a lot of talent, especially in the three top teams: Ignite 16 – Red, which features outside hitter Violet Burchak and middle blocker Bianca Lungu, PJVBC 16 National with its strong duo of outside hitter Chloe Dixon and middle blocker Ashley Harris and SNVF 16 White, which typically gets great production from outside hitter Anna Dantas and setter Megan Omlid.
The other Evergreen State teams set to compete in Spokane are Blue Royals 16-A, Club Gold 16-1 Blue, Dakine Warriors 16 Aloha, NW Jrs. 16 UA Grey, NW Jrs. 16 UA White, Oly Reign 16 Gold, Renovators 16 – Shawn, SNVF 16 Blue and Strike Force 16 Black.
16 Open (4)
The most prestigious division in the age group will feature four of the best club volleyball teams in Washington. Dakine Warriors 16 Surf is a force with middle blocker Danielle Brown, libero Kaitlyn Nguyen and right side Hannah Byers. Excel NW 16-1 Rox also has tremendous quality in outside hitters Evelyn Wenger and Anna Nadal and middle blocker Olivia Adamo.
NPJ Seattle 16 National with their trio of middle blocker Tea Bosanac, setter Simone Grieser and outside hitter Avery Kimball and SIVBC 16 Thunder, which heavily relies on middle blocker Logan Remington, setter Vanessa Ping and outside hitter Darby Kelly, also deserve our attention.
16 USA (12)
One team to circle in the 16 USA division is CPA Elite, which has tremendous talent between outside hitter Payton Davis, middle blocker Kaitlyn Hough and libero Lexi Norisada. Also don’t’ sleep on SIVB Tornado and their ‘Big Three’ of setter Melena Wong, outside hitter Joslyn Greff and middle blocker Josie Barber.
Aspire NW 16-1 Empire, NCWVBC 16-1 Gold, NPJ Seattle 16 Elite, NW Jrs. 16 UA Black, NW Jrs. 16 UA Blue, Renovators 16 – Brenna, Renovators 16 – Bret, Renovators 16 – Mark, Seattle Jrs 16 and Shockwave 16 will also be in contention.
