Maya Witherspoon Maya Witherspoon 5'11" | OH Lafayette | 2025 State #44 Nation MO – 5’11″ – MB/OH – Lafayette
If you’ve not had a chance to watch this one, find her videos or see her play club—one of the most athletically inclined players in the city. She is a smooth attacker, and her footwork comes so naturally. Finished third on the team in kills with 252, third in aces, and first in serve receptions. She will eventually leave Lafayette as one of the best players in the school’s luxurious history.
Jordan Smith Jordan Smith 6'4" | OH Francis Howell Central | 2025 State #59 Nation MO – 6’2″ – RS – Howell Central
I watched Jordan play several times last year, and the improvement from the Borgia Tournament to districts was outstanding. Her volleyball IQ is off the charts for a freshman, and her attacking is something you need to watch over the next few years. She will be a high D1 recruit as she possesses a lot of traits coaches will want. Tall, athletic, intelligent, six rotation and puts up a monster block on the right. Led her team in kills with 331 and third in blocks with 44, first in aces with 36, and third in serve receptions.
Reagan Nelson Reagan Nelson 6'0" | OH Pattonville | 2025 State #107 Nation MO – 5’10″ -OH – Pattonville
The freshman outside led her team in kills with 405, 2nd in aces with 61, 1st in digs with 261, and 3rd in serve receptions. A fierce outside hitter with a monster approach and a deadly swing. The kid doesn’t know a bad set because every ball is attacked with full force. Keep an eye on this kid over the next three years and watch her offers roll in.
Katherine St. John Katherine St. John 6'1" | OH Jackson | 2025 State MO – 6’1″ – OH – Jackson
Another newbie kill leader for her high school team with 354. This talented player can hit from anywhere on the court and uses her length and athleticism to hit over blockers. Toss in her kills jump float, and Katy has the potential to leave Jackson as the school’s all-time kill leader.
Hannah Leftridge Hannah Leftridge 5'10" | OH St. Pius X (Festus) | 2025 State MO – 5’8” – OH – St. Pius X (Festus)
Remember this one as she reminds me of Purdue libero and St. Pius X alum Jenna Otec as a freshman. She’s a savvy outside hitter who ended her first season 2nd in kills with 301, 2nd in digs with 252, 3rd in aces with 43, and 2nd in receptions with 405. Next year will be her year to lead the Lancers offense.
Morgan Christine Dumm Morgan Christine Dumm 5'11" | S Francis Howell | 2025 State MO – 5’10″ – S – Francis Howell
One of my favorite newcomers to I watched in action on several occasions, and not once did I notice her make freshman mistakes. She has excellent hands, runs a fast-paced offense, and keeps the blockers and defense honest. Watch her burn teams with the dump no one saw coming. Couple more years, and she will be one of the top setters in the country.
Ella Keeven Ella Keeven 5'8" | S Marquette | 2025 State MO – 5’8” – S – Marquette
Ella walked right into the gym at Marquette, took over running a potent offense, and helped guide her team one win away from a final four berth. She has excellent hands, feeds the big guns when hot, and runs a quick offense. Led the Saint Louis area for freshman setters with 892 assists and dug up 259 balls to finish 3rd on her team.
Avery Helms Avery Helms 5'8" | DS/L Francis Howell | 2025 State MO – 5’8″ – Libero – Francis Howell
Hands down the best freshman libero I watched this season. She finished the year 1st in digs with 405, 1st in receptions with 629, and 2nd with 41 aces. The Vikings are in good hands the next couple of years, with Avery leading the defense. High volleyball IQ and reads the hitters exceptionally well for a freshman.
