Among the hundreds of teams heading to the Salt Palace Convention Center to start competing on Friday, there are, of course, several from Washington and we will use the time between now and them to feature some of them.
We decided to focus on the divisions of the 16s age group, which will have nine teams from the Evergreen State in action. As we had already highlighted some of those teams in previous articles, we’ll now bring some light to the ones that are yet to appear on our site in 2022.
DaKine Warriors 16 Ohana
The team from the DaKine Warriors Volleyball Club based in Bellevue will compete in the 16 American Division, alongside two other sides from the same club. Ohana has won ten and lost 17 matches this season and has a fifth-place finish at the NW Jrs Presidents Weekend as their best finish so far.
Players to Watch
Keira Leingang – Right Sider – HS: Bellarmine Prep – 2024
A 5’11” right sider with tons of room for improvement in her game, Keira Leingang adds to DaKine Warriors 16 Ohana’s scoring punch. A lefty, she’s very long and makes contact with the ball at a very high point. Her offensive game is still coming together, but she starts from an excellent spot with her physical tools. She produced 47 kills and 11 blocks in limited playing time with Bellarmine Prep in the last high school season.
Savannah Fisher – Setter – HS: Skyline – 2024
Savannah Fisher is DaKine Warriors 16 Ohana’s starting setter and she does a great job in running the team’s offense. The 5’7” Fisher is very technical and intelligent with her distribution, making the team’s attacking system be very smooth. Fisher is also a tremendous asset on the backcourt as she’s an excellent server with her dangerous floater and plays very good defense as well.
Sydnee Hertzog – Libero – HS: North Thurston – 2024
Sydnee Hertzog is the one in charge of proving DaKine Warriors 16 Ohama some stability on the backcourt. The 5’3” libero is a force on defense, combining excellent positioning with outstanding ball control. Also a superior passer, Hertzog can also help the team with her precise bump sets when the setter gets the first contact. She registered 41 digs and 75 passes with her high school team North Thurston last season.
