There’s seemingly an infinite amount of athletes we could discuss here. So many players are jumping out on film as we review all the high-level volleyball that took place in Utah, so it’s even harder to make choices for this feature. In any case, I can say that I’m excited to get plenty more in-person looks at the Showdown’s participants as we move forward in the 2022 club season.
So, here are a few big standouts from the exciting weekend.
Nayeli Gonzalez – 6’2 OH – Alamo 17 Premier
Gonzalez consistently showed why she was one of the most skilled outside hitters in Salt Lake City last weekend. Her serve receive was solid throughout the event, and her heavy arm on the left pin was always hard to stop.
Izzy Starck – 6’1 S/RS – Colorado Juniors 16-Sherri
Starck’s competitiveness is undeniable. I saw it at Triple Crown last month, and it showed up again at the SLC Showdown. This multi-talented player has been a big reason for 16-Sherri’s continued improvement throughout the year.
No shortage of length and physicality for Colorado Juniors 16-Sherri.

Kalyssa Blackshear – 6’2 MB – Mizuno Long Beach 15 Rockstar C
15 Rockstar C’s ascent up the 15 Open leaderboard was assisted by Blackshear, a strong, physical middle blocker who elevates incredibly well when attacking in front of the setter. She’s always the go-to option on a good pass.
Teraya Sigler – 6’0 OH – Arizona Storm 15 Thunder
Sigler just keeps on rolling. She’s quite simply one of the most electrifying outside hitters in the 2025 class. She brings the lightning to 15 Thunder. I could carry on with the storm metaphors, but you just have to see Sigler play.
Emilee Prochaska – 5’5 DS/L – Flyers 16 APX-Dylan
There’s no doubt that Prochaska commands the backcourt. She reads the game well and is always ready to cover her hitters if necessary. Texas has a lot of great liberos coming through the pipeline, and Prochaska is certainly one that we’ll be watching.
Callie Krueger – 5’5 DS/L – Austin Skyline 15 Royal
Did I mention that Texas is producing a lot of great liberos? Krueger didn’t just stand out for her stark red libero jersey. She also had one of the steadiest passing performances of any 15s libero, and her quality of contact was a massive part of Skyline’s success.
Caroline Sele – 6’0 S/RS – A4 Volley 18-Joaco
As a setter, Sele is able to spread the ball around with some nice pace and location. Her ability to produce split-block opportunities for her hitters was a key to A4’s success over the weekend. Of course, Sele can also tee off from the right pin whenever it’s needed.
GG Greenlee – 6’3 MB/RS – AZ Revolution 17 Premier
Greenlee brings a kind of versatile attacking repertoire that’s tough for opposing teams to slow down. She can hit off of one or two feet and is absolutely lethal behind the setter. “GG” was part of a physical AZ Revolution lineup that produced plenty of highlight moments in Salt Lake City.
Alexis Haury – 5’10 S – NPJ 18 Forefront
Don’t let all the steely veterans in the 18s division distract you from the fact that Haury represents the Class of 2024. This flashy setter has already raked in a ton of accolades in her prep career, and she’s going to keep that momentum going in 2022.
