<p>What’s at stake? Southern California region teams are battling it out this weekend for regional bids (2 National, 3 American & 2 Freedom) to the 18s Girls Junior National Championship in Phoenix, Arizona. Viper 18-1 Jolynn/Kurstan, T-Street Madi/Liz, Coast 18-Rachel, Forza1 UA, Forza1 North 18 UA, Seal Beach 18-Black, SCVC 18 Roxy, T-Street LV 18-April, A4 18-Randy, and Pulse 18-Henry came out of the morning at the top of their pools. Eight of those ten teams were seeded at the top of their pools, with only Seal Beach 18-Black and T-Street LV 18-April being seeded lower and then winning their pools.</p>
<p>After challenge bracket play in the evening, Viper 18-1, T-Street Madi/Liz, Coast 18-Rachel, Forza1 North 18 UA, Pulse 18-Henry, Coast 18-Brittani, SG Elite 18 Elite, and A4 18-Randy advanced to the gold bracket. Here are some of the standouts from teams headed to the gold bracket.</p>
<p>Savanah Johnson, 5’9” Opposite, Coast 18-Rachel<br />
Listed at 5’9”, this high flying opposite was impressive on the right side. She has a heavy arm and is capable of scoring from either pin. She is committed to Air Force.</p>

This 6-rotation outside touches over 10’ and hits an impressive line shot. She is committed to UCSB.</p>
<p>Alexis Dennick, 6’2” Opposite, Pulse 18-Henry<br />
An opposite that puts up a solid block on the right and was impressive find point scoring opportunities for her team. She is committed to Westmont College.</p>

This 6-rotation outside hitter hits high and smart, finding the seam in the block. She is committed to Harvey-Mudd-Scripps.</p>
<p>Avery Maddox, 6’ OH, Viper 18-Jolynn<br />
A consistent outlet for her team, she set up a solid block and was very efficient on the right side. She is committed to Dominican University.</p>
<p>Samantha Thome, Middle, A4 18-Randy<br />
She moves well laterally and works hard to close the block.</p>

This offensive-minded setter was aggressive at the net, attacking on two and scoring when necessary. She easily set the ball out to the pins and also played impressive defense.</p>
