Though nothing compares to doing coverage courtside, but streaming services have made it much easier to watch from home. It was a full day of volleyball at the world challenge and here are some 2024s who impressed on Day 1!
Maddy Kreider – 1W Bay 16 Mizuno – Setter
Maddy was super-impressive today. She ran the court well and was constantly communicating. Maddy was gritty and a leader on the court. She didn’t always take the easy set and was a consistent force on this team. Maddy also contributed a lot to the team defensively.
Kimberly Busateri – RVA G16 Navy – Libero
Kimberly was aggressive, scrappy, and got touches on a crazy number of balls that came over the net. She had great court awareness and was engaged on the court. Kimberly also had a very aggressive serve that she fired off every time she went back to the service line.
Halie Kapelke Halie Kapelke 6'0" | S Onalaska | 2024 State WI – Capital 16 Adidas – Right Side
Halie had huge power today at the World Challenge. She was a presence at the net from the first point to the last. Halie had several key blocks and was an asset on offense as well. She puts a lot of power on the ball to manufacture points for her team.
Lyndsie Truitt Lyndsie Truitt 5'10" | MB DC Everest | 2024 State WI – Wisconsin Ice 16 National – Middle Blocker
Lyndsie was incredibly impactful today. She ran great balls in front of and behind the setter and had some huge swings for Ice. She also made a lot of smart shots and tips to earn points. She was reliable in tight situations. Lyndsie was a go-to hitter for this team.
Emerson Van Lannen Emerson Van Lannen 5'10" | S Appleton North | 2024 State #144 Nation WI – FC Elite 16 Navy – Setter
Emerson plays at an incredibly high level and today was no different. She has a ton of experience on the court and it shows. She moves the ball around with practiced ease and puts good tempo on the ball. Emerson is a leader on the court and is very gritty and smart with her choices.
Katelyn Heard Katelyn Heard 5'11" | MB Mukwonago | 2024 State WI – Motion 16 Blue – Outside Hitter
Katelyn is a very well-rounded offensive player. She has power and finesse on the ball. She has a deep toolbox of shots that she uses to earn points. This team was dominant today and Katelyn was a key part of that. She was impressive across the front row and a go-to hitter.
