Mattie Reynolds Mattie Reynolds 5'9" | OH Lutheran St. Charles | 2023 State MO – 5’9″ OH – Lutheran St Peters
Another one of these strong, Power ful outside hitters did a lot of damage this year for the Cougars, and the offensive load will increase next year. She has the Power to hit through the block and the IQ to find the holes in the defense. She would end the season with 363 kills and 216 digs.
Jade Roth Jade Roth 6'0" | MB Farmington | 2023 State MO – 6’0 “- MH – Farmington
I had the opportunity to watch Roth play both in high school and club this year, and I still walk away smiling at her athleticism. Roth provided the Knights a solid offensive and defensive threat at the net with 294 kills and 96 blocks. Quick footwork to the pins, hang time, and vertical is impressive but still raw with sky-high potential. She will be a steal for a DII program.
Emma Fairchild Emma Fairchild 5'10" | OH Westminster Christian | 2023 State MO – 5’10” – OH – Westminster Christian
Class 4 state champion Westminster has a loaded squad of 2023 players, and Fairchild is the first of several picked for the second and first teams. Team leader in kills with 274 and a Power ful outside hitter that’s just as successful hitting on either pin.
Emma Breier Emma Breier 6'0" | OH Jefferson | 2023 State MO – 6’0” – OH – Jefferson
Class 2 3rd place finisher Jefferson is one of two teams with multiple players on the first and second teams. With 367 kills and 223 digs, the six rotations outside/middle for the Bluejay’s has the size and Power to play at a high level. Look for Breier and company to be the Class 2 favorites next season.
Reese Gray Reese Gray 5'8" | OH Lesterville | 2023 State MO – 5’8″ – OH – Lesterville
A strong, Power ful outside is the main focal point of offense and defense for Class 1 Lesterville. Gray would be a great asset at the next level, either on the pin or as a libero. With 648 kills on the year and 1478 attempts, Gray would lead the state in both categories.
Abigail Siess Abigail Siess 5'11" | OH Westminster Christian | 2023 State MO – 5’11” – OH – Westminster Christian
The Wildcats are blessed with talent, and Siess is one of the best on the team. 2nd on the team in kills and digs with 265 and 234, respectively. Siess has the size, Power , and backcourt skill set to succeed at the next level. One of four hitters for Westminster on the first and second teams.
Shelby Truitt Shelby Truitt 5'10" | RS Westminster Christian | 2023 State MO – 5’9″ – OH – Westminster Christian
The third player from Westminster on the list is the savvy outside hitter who uses her off-speed shots to find the floor on the defense. Truitt would use these shots several times in the state final four to score point after point. Another next-level player for Class 4 champions.
Layne Witherspoon Layne Witherspoon 6'0" | MB Lafayette | 2023 State MO – 5’10” – MB – Lafayette
Another Lancer on this list with a dynamic vertical, quick transition and hits a mean ball to the one position. She might be undersized but makes up for it with hard work and a high volleyball IQ. Layne provided Lafayette with another go-to player on a stacked team and ended the year with 211 kills and 59 blocks. I would love to see her hitting on the pins.
Elise Paul Elise Paul 6'0" | MB Lutheran South | 2023 State MO – 6’0″ – MH – Lutheran South
Skilled at the net as a Power hitter, Paul has all the skills needed to move to the outside at the next level and be very successful. A quick, high volleyball IQ, solid six rotation middle for the Lancers was the team’s go-to player and would tally 239 kills, 99 blocks, and 144 digs.
Megan Manaj Megan Manaj 6'0" | MB Lindbergh | 2023 State MO – 6”0” – MH – Lindbergh
Big bruiser for the Flyers would play on either pin and be successful but hits middle for Lindbergh. Great footwork out of the middle, quick transition, and quick off her feet. Power ful swing and hits a fantastic line shot on the right pin. She would finish the season with 323 kills and 99 blocks.
Alli Bishop Alli Bishop 6'0" | RS Westminster | 2023 State MO – 6’0″ – RS – Westminster Christian
Bishop helped her team to a state championship in Class 3, and the lefty right-side is part of an outstanding 2023 class at Westminster. At 6’0″, she provides an outstanding block on the right, and her line shot is deadly. Keep an eye on the Wildcats, as they should be the favorite to repeat next season.
Emma Clark Emma Clark 5'9" | S John Burroughs | 2023 State MO – 5’9″ – Setter – Burroughs
Clark had one of the best hitters in the country to feed on the right side each night, but Clark did a fantastic job feeding the beast and when to mix it up. She would finish the year with 830 assists and 175 digs and will go down as one of the best setters in Burroughs history.
Zoey Mitchell – 5’9″ – Setter – Timberland
Zoey was part of a 6-2 offense and would do damage in both positions. A talented setter also provided the Wolves with a solid second outlet at the net. A tremendous vertical and arm swing that did damage on either pin. Next level asset as an outside or running a 5-1.
Paige Siebert Paige Siebert 5'6" | S Jefferson | 2023 State MO – 5’6″ – Setter – Jefferson
Paige would lead the state for all juniors in assists with 1159 and help guide her team to a Class 2 third-place finish. Surrounded by a team of outstanding hitters, Paige was what kept her team humming. A clever setter that distributed the ball around to a load of hitters keeping the defense off balance.
