It’s April, so we’re going through a crucial stretch of national qualifiers right now. This is all the more reason to add some players to your radar as the intensity picks up in the 2022 season. After covering some frontcourt standouts from the Show Me Qualifier, we’re moving toward some setters that have really been gaining some momentum this month.
On to the feature!
Juleigh Urbina – 5’10 S – OT 16 O Roberto
Urbina just keeps shining on the big stage. Her incredible touch at the setter spot helped OTVA earn a hard-fought bid at Show Me, and you can count on Urbina thriving once again as we get closer to Nationals.
Gabby Lombardi – 6’0 S/RS – Six Pack 16
Lombardi is a well-known name around the Iowa prep scene, and now this physical setter is making her mark on the 2022 club season for Six Pack. She has an aggressive style that fits the kind of offense that Six Pack likes to run, and her blocking at the net will never be a liability.
Allie Barlow – 5’10 S – Iowa Rockets 17R
We might as well stay in Iowa for this next standout. Barlow’s precision and consistent tempo helped lift Iowa Rockets to a head-turning performance at Show Me this month, and Iowa Rockets is poised for a strong future with this setter at the helm.

Stella Swenson – 6’1 S – MN Select 17-1
It’s a movie we’ve seen before: a Swenson setter making a huge impact on a Minnesota club team. The latest Swenson iteration is her own brand, though, as this setter brings a lethal combination of size and finesse to the net. Her connection on the slide and behind to her opposite has developed so much this year, and that has also helped her team secure a spot at Nationals this summer.
More sweet slide hitting on display.

Taylor Cook – 5’11 S/RS – Skyline 15 Royal
Like many other athletes we’ve seen in the Skyline program lately, Cook is a player that can easily take over a match as either a setter or an opposite. I enjoyed watching her run the offense for 15 Royal in Kansas City, and Cook’s role will only continue to grow within that talented squad.
Really impressed with this @Skylinejrs 15 Royal squad. Could we add another Skyline team to the 15 Open field at Nationals?

Clara Hoegh – 5’9 S – Northern Lights 15-1
One of the things I really like about Northern Lights 15-1 is that its setters always have the green light to make a courageous set. Hoegh has embraced that opportunity and is really progressing when setting against the grain. That’ll give Lights hitters plenty of one-on-one opportunities moving forward.
Lilly Wagner – 6’0 S/RS – MKE Sting 16 Gold
Wagner has a rare medley of skills that you can’t help but notice when you watch Sting 16 Gold. Her incredible athleticism is put to use in a variety of ways, from stuffing down opposing left sides to chasing down passes that are drifting off the net. This setter leads a team that you just knew would break through to the Nationals field eventually, and 16 Gold has just done that at the Windy City Qualifier.
Juliette Myrick – 6’0 S – Rockwood Thunder 17 Elite
Myrick leads another squad that has recently broken through to the Nationals field. I’ve seen so much steady improvement from Rockwood Thunder since I first saw the team in January, and Myrick’s mature feel for the setter spot has a lot to do with it.
