We just completed Showcase at the Sunshine Classic National Qualifier in Orlando this past weekend. We had over 250 amazing athletes participate over three sessions the day before the tournament. This article series is specifically about those ballers who stood out for various reasons in their showcase. Let’s meet a few of these standouts:
Ella Coleman [2025] 5-11 Outside/Right Side (HS: Champion/Club: San Antonio/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Ella is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but what we saw during the showcase has placed her on our watch list for our next update of the rankings. She plays for Boerne Champion High School and also club for Alamo. We were so impressed with Ella during the showcase that we moved her up to the upperclassmen court during the scrimmage time. She more than held her own both offensively and defensively. She was able to score with both power and finesse as she has mastered the art of hitting the last five feet of the court and going high hands to tool blockers. Her hand contact on the bottom third of the ball was awesome to see. When she had the open shot, she also unleashed some serious power on top of the ball to put it straight down. Every time we see her she gets better and better. Stay tuned for more on Miss Coleman as she has what it takes to be listed on our rankings.
Macy McPartland [2024] 5-5 Libero (HS: Bridgeland/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Macy is currently ranked as the 30th best overall prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Bridgeland High School and Houston Skyline Volleyball club. I knew exactly what to expect with Miss McPartland because I have watched her career very closely since we were introduced to her two years ago. However, she still makes me smile with how she plays the game. She has an uncanny ability to keep balls alive that no one thinks can be touched. Macy flies in out of nowhere with no regard for her body and somehow keeps the ball in play. I love it! Every coach who saw her during the showcase gave me her name as a top performer. She is one of the best liberos in the state and every college coach who was subscribed to Baller TV was a witness to her wizardry in the back row. If you do not know her name by now, please write it down and add her to your short list of liberos to watch.
Madison Milligan [2023] 6-2 Middle (HS: Southwest/Club: San Antonio Juniors/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Madison is currently an unranked prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig National Rankings, but showed us that she deserves to be on our watch list with how she performed at the showcase. She plays at Southwest High School and also club for San Antonio Juniors who has taken the central Texas area by storm the past two years. Madison is a solid middle who does very well on both attacking and blocking. If for some reason she does not close with her feet, she does a fantastic job to reach with her arms/hands to seal the seam and force the attacker to hit around her. I loved how aggressive she was pressing at the net to close off any space from the attacker during our hitters versus blockers game-like drills. Offensively she was running quicks at a very fast tempo and hitting both cut and cut back angles around opposing double blocks. A few college coaches talked to me about her during the drills and wrote her name down for them to watch during the tourney. We will be watching her progress throughout the rest of the year and you should also.
