These athletes are playing some fantastic volleyball right now, and this would be a great time for college scouts to take a look. Volume 1 will start with outside hitters in the Lone Star Region who are commanding the court.
Kaitlin Whitlock – Clark High School – Ignite Volleyball Club
Kaitlin Whitlock is high flying outside from Ignite Volleyball. Having watched this stud outside in person this year more than once, I can tell you there is no stopping her once she gets going. She is a super high flyer with a crazy reach. At only 5’9, this stud has verticle of almost 30 inches. As a blocker, if you are not paying attention she will make regret it with a heavy swing. Often you will see her not only swinging well on the front row but improving her game as a backrow player. Check out her most recent highlight video hudl.com/v/2GEzgc.
Emma Patmon Emma Patmon 5'8" | OH Cedar Ridge | 2023 State TX – Cedar Ridge High School- Austin Skyline
Up next is Emma Patmon Emma Patmon 5'8" | OH Cedar Ridge | 2023 State TX from Austin Skyline 17 Royal. Since joining our rankings she has progressively moved up and is now sitting at number 15. Emma has two important pieces to her offense that are worth noting. The first is that she is explosive. On every ball. She challenges the blockers on every play, forcing them to compete with her quick arm swing. The second is that she has a variety of shots that she hits very well. She hits a sharp cross ball with some serious intensity, and often beats the block straight down the middle of the court. Check out her most recent highlight video hudl.com/v/2HHVD0.
Emma Montes – Kingwood High School – TAV Houston
Emma Montes is a new name for us this year. Transitioned from a middle blocker to an outside, she packs a seriously solid arm swing. She uses her experience as a middle and the whip of her arm to create solid contact on the outside. Her head coach Branden Smeltzer has developed her game over the last year as a 6 rotation player, and she is looking better every tournament. She drives a really hard ball sharp cross, using her experience as a middle. She also loves to elevate above the block and crush the ball line when given the opportunity. Ariana Brown – Conroe High School – Willowbrook 17 Gold
Swining in next is Ariana Brown Ariana Brown 5'11" | OH Conroe | 2023 State TX out of Willowbrook volleyball club. Ariana is sitting at the number 12 outside in the rankings and rightfully so. She contacts the ball with so much power, and over the last year she has worked on her accuracy to go along with it. She has worked on her 6 rotation game to improve her defense, and she is now able to hit out of the back row, which seems to be one of her favorite swings. Look for her to be on the radar at Lone Star Regionals. Check out her most recent highlights hudl.com/v/2GxNCe.
Kitana Tuufuli – Byron P Steele II High School – San Antonio Magic
Last but not least is Kitana from San Antonio Magic. Standing at 6’1 on the outside she is an absolute force. She really asserts her size on the ball, swinging hard and fast. She loves a good go ball from her setter, and attacks that quickly to beat the blockers on the opposing sides. She is able to get a strong swing on a variety of sets and is a threat from anywhere on the front row. Although she doesn’t do much serve receive or passing, she has a great jump serve that allows her some additional play time. Check out her highlight video from Triple Crown hudl.com/v/2H4HFW.
