The fourth weekend of the event reunited 40 teams in the 16s division and another 19 in the 18’s division. Competition took place in two different venues and we headed to the Texas Tornados club on Saturday, where 24 teams of the 16s division competed in the morning.
We’ve completed our positional breakdowns on Saturday and in our final piece about the event, we’ll present our selections for the Prep Dig All-Tournament Team.
Taylor Hynds – Texas Tornados 16 National – HS: Tompkins – 2024
Taylor Hinds earned our selection because of her combination of talent and hard work on the court. The 5’7” playmaker is extremely gifted but also does a great job in controlling what she can control and giving everything she has on the court. She excels when running a fast-paced offense, but is also excellent when it comes to working with less-than-ideal passes.
Rowan Haecker – Texas United 16 Red – HS: St. Agnes Academy – 2024
Rowan Haecker isn’t the typical right side hitter that uses her power and size to score points, but she’s very productive in her own way. The 5’9” Haecker is a player that offers endless possibilities to her coaches with her excellent all-around game and can score points with her great technique and reding of the game. She can set too if needed and gives her outside hitters and libero great help with her passing.
Ally Tribe – Texstar 16 – HS: Columbus – 2023
Ally Tribe stands out for her ability to score points. She’s very long at 6’1” and extremely athletic too and is difficult to deal with when at the net. Tribe has not only tremendous power on her right arm, but can also find unlikely spots when hitting sharp angle. She has a nice amount of confidence in her game and doesn’t slow down after being blocked. Tribe can also score from the service line and handles herself well on the backcourt too.
Kennedy Jones – Texas Tornados 16 Adidas – HS: Langham Creek – 2024
Kennedy Jones’ athleticism makes of her a joy to watch. Not many players can stay up in the air for as long as the 5’10” outside hitter and she uses her physical tools extremely well at the net. Jones can hit the play hard (and straight down), but above anything, she makes good decisions with her offense and finds ways to score even when in unfavorable situations.
Sophia Burke – HJV 16 National – HS: Jersey Village – 2024
Sophia Burke can be an imposing figure at the net. A six-footer, she moves extremely well and is very aggressive with her blocking technique, placing her arms well across the net to take up space from opposing hitters. Burke is also a powerful offensive player, using all of her body strength to get high in the air and smash the ball.
Wylie Singleton – AVA TX 16 Adidas – HS: Alvin – 2024
There’s no shortage of power Wylie Singleton’s game wither. The AVA TX 16 Adidas middle has a strong six-foot frame and doesn’t shy away from using her physicality at the net. Singleton can put serious power on the ball when hitting and has a very strong approach. She also showed good technique and ball control when playing defense, what indicates she could even be used in other positions if needed.
Bea Angeles – Fr Challenge Elite 16 – Royal – HS: Manvel – 2024
One of the most impressive defensive players in the tournament, Bea Angeles did a great job in leading Fr Challenge Elite 16 Royal’s backcourt. The 5’3” libero is very active on the backcourt and displayed excellent quickness and technique to move to the ball and keep it up in the air. Also a very good with her passing, Angeles does a great job in tracking plays and recovering balls as well.
